Well done Carlos, and thanks for posting the videos and pics.

I'm interested to know what's the fastest way to launch a 335d - did you try D versus DS versus M modes, and which did you find the best? I seem to find myself launching in DS, then shifting back into D because DS hold the revs too high for too long.

For a sprint like Santa Pod, at what level of revs should you change gear for the quickest time? Change at the redline?

I launch with both pedals, so ''brake boosting'' as the americans call it. Approx 1500-1700rpm. In DS using paddles to shift up at just after 4500rpm mate! I dont even bother trying D mode. I dont want to waste a run lol, but it could be quicker?

I wasted one run by leaving T/C fully on, i forgot to turn it off and i had my slowest run on the day because of this.

I was getting alot of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd.

Every car is different Paul. Your Max power is just over 8k so thats when you should shift. You rev the car as far as you would on a thrash on the road.

So hold the revs on the line at say 3,000rpm(?) to launch, go straight to 8,400rpm then change to second, same again to third etc?

What about T/C? If I turn off, it will just be one big burn-out!

Well i would rev to a tad over 8k on yours. You dump the clutch it will spin look fook.

Ease the clutch in, feed the power smoothly and not to heavy and it will pull away cleanly with a fair amount of wheel spin but not too much which would hamper your time. Its quite a balancing act.

T/C must be off yes. It will hold the car up otherwise.

Hold the car on the line at 8k? Are you sure? The rears will light up and it will be difficult to feed the power gently lol!

I would try it at several to start with. 3k sounds ideal but untill you try it may be too low or too high. Every car is different. My old E36 I launched at approx 3.5k

I think thats slightly to high, i think you will upset the balance of the rear michelins and make them vapourise off the line.

Try 3,723.76

Nice to see I can beat both with the roof down.

I think both those cars should be around 13 dead `tho Carl (in an ideal run)

You reckon if they made a manual 335d then it would be quicker than the auto 335d?

Prob 1sec quicker to 60. You`d esentially have what Ant has with his D3.

The new 330d (245hp) manual is quoted by BMW as 0.1s quicker than the 335d to 60.

A seriously impressive car,it would certainly give the DXB a headache at the pod.
There would be no reason to buy another 335D after driving that monster, get the 330D and give it to Ant for the day, you'll get back a torque monster with great MPG.
