I used all Redline oils in my 350z... changed MT and rear diff out at 25k miles and again at 50k miles. Changed engine oil every 5k. LOVE Redline, it really helped smooth out the shifts in my z and even in this car you can tell the engine runs a little smoother/easier and cooler. It is almost impossible to ever get it above 240 degrees now, and I have never hit the middle 250 mark.
In the Z I had to use MT-90 (GL4) in the tranny due to the brass synchros. Just used regular 75W-90 (GL5) in the rear diff, WITHOUT the extra slick additive or whatever (safe for LSD). This car has no LSD and I don't think it uses brass synchros so I guess you can use whatever you want. |

I'll pile one since everyone else is... I changed my 335XI 6MT fluid a few weeks ago for a specific purpose. My 2nd gear synchro/slider is just not behaving nicely and I was hoping to get a little bit better performance out of it with a fluid change.
The fluid was easy to change and I used Royal Purple Synchromax after emailing their tech support (very nice guy emailed me back on a sat). I drained about 1.8L out and put that much back in. My car only has about 6k miles on it and after the change I noticed that the cold weather (sub 50'F) performance really wasn't much different but when the trans (or ambient) temp came up, it shifted about 20% better. A small but noticeable improvement.

I did a DIY for anyone that's interested. The reason was pretty much the same for me. The syncros in second were notchy and the Royal Purple helped. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80198 Don't think that the warranty will cover it though because it will be obvious to the tech. OEM is orange and Royal Purple is..well, you guessed it...Purple.

That LT3 fluid costs a pretty penny!
