Buying new car, is this a good deal?
Ok so my girlfriend got her 128i at Carmax last year and we get the service done there. Well yesterday I went with her and seen a clean 2010 335i with M Sport package (and all other packages as well) and just am not quite sure if it's worth the money or not. So I figured i'd come on here and ask you guys if you think it's a good deal. I know KBB is only a tool and shouldn't be taken literally, but according to KBB it's about $1.5k under what their asking from Carmax. Anyways, here is the link and any feedback is greatly recommended.

Given the mileage I would say the price is decent.. I paid $33k (with taxes and everything) for a 2011 E92 335xi loaded, minus M sport, but with 25k miles. Prices vary from location to location though.

I'd say that price is fair, especially at a dealership.

I think the price is a little high, as is always the case with CarMax. Apples to oranges, but just as a reference point, I bought a 2011 335i xDrive 6MT Sedan with Navi, with 32,000 miles for $29,500 and it was a CPO. This was in the Northeast in January. For whatever that's worth.

Overpriced IMO. I know someone that recently picked up an '11 M-sport loaded with existing original warranty for $28k with 26k miles. A 2010 surely will not have a manufacturers warranty.

Shoot 2 years ago I paid almost the same for my 328.. hmmm
Question: Does that black grille arrive from factory like that because M-Sport package or was it a mod?

Great looking car, but I agree - it does seem a little overpriced.
I paid $14.5k for an '07 e90 335i sport with 76k miles on it. The KBB was roughly $18.5k though. Hard to compare to the 2010 cause mine is 3 years older with an extra 30k miles, but at half the price it makes the 2010 seem like a poor deal.

If you are going to get it, make sure you definitely purchase their bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I think its just a tad overpriced. '10 335i w/ 29k when I got it 3mnths ago @ $28.5k. Southwest US region (non CPO private party w/ a 3rd party warranty). I agree you should get bumper to bumper coverage if possible.

It's on the higher end as far as price. You can head up north for better deals. That said, with a 335 you cannot base everything on the price, mileage, and model year. You have to drive it and if you are not familiar with this platform get a PPI done. You have 5 days to return so if the PPI indicates too many issues return the car.

It's a bit high especially if you buy the CarMax warranty, which will push the price into the $30k range. You can get a 2011 CPO with less miles for that. In addition, that car is a steptronic, so there are plenty of those on the market.

Thanks so much guys! This is exactly what kind of feedback I was looking for! I'm a fan of the M-Sport but yeah the miles and price were a bit offset to me as well. I'd love to get one with factory warranty but I didn't wanna go over $25k. I seen this and figured it was a decent deal but it seems that I could save a few thousand by taking my business elsewhere!
Thanks! |

It is a little overpriced. I bought a 2011 335xi e92 AT loaded except no M-package with 53k miles for $26k.
This one being a 2010, N54 engine, even with the M package, I'm thinking it should be probably $24-25k.

Yeah seems pretty good and I don't mean to compare to mine but helps to gauge where the price should be. The price seems about right. I got my e92 328i 09 for 20k with 40k miles at a BMW dealer here in the bay area with same options except seat warmers and PDC sensors. At the same dealer was an 08 335i e92 with 70k miles same price of 20k and options except this one had seat warmers and PDC. So comparing the price of this one and the ones I saw seems right. 2 years newer, 30k miles less. Again I would price it at 25k it's only worth 28k in my opinion if it still had warranty, it might. You might call BMW and check.

As I said - I got my '07 e90 335 for $14.5k despite the $18.7k KBB value. Most 335i sports with ~75k miles - in my area - were $17,000-$20,000 from dealers and $16,000-$18,000 from private sellers. I was looking for a great deal for months and finally this one came up - at first I was 99% sure it was too good to be true. The week before I got my 335 I actually almost pulled the trigger on another (same car - same features) from a private seller for $14,800 with 87k miles. So glad I waited and found mine with 76k miles and in better condition for even less money from a dealer. Anyways, I know I got a good deal not only because of KBB, but also because I was looking for months and months and saw similar cars selling for $17,000+. Keep searching in your area and eventually you will realize what a good deal looks like - just make sure its not too good to be true!
