WTF is wrong with my AUX in port? CRAPPY sounding music when in use.

Seriously it sounds like a radio station with half its connectivity. Sometimes it works and sounds clear, but most the time it sounds like the connectors are barely making any contact.

Has anyone seen these go faulty and need to be replaced? Would it be fixed under warranty? Car is still under full warranty until december. I cannot stand it anymore, my roomates 07 335 which was my car previously has perfect sound coming from that aux plug to his phone. I have tried 5 diff cables even my roomates that works perfect and still sounds crappy in my car. Very annoying...

Its a design problem +

Its a design problem +
how good is the source that's feeding it.
There have been many threads where its been noted that
the aux input seem harsh and thin on the the top and bottom and in the middle
especially if you have a base or hi fi system which are not so good
either. If you upgrade your system it will sound a lot better but not
as good as digital input from a cd , usb or hard drive.
And that's why I have a problem with any of the adapter kits for
ipod bluetooth or usb that go through the aux input for sound.
Be they BMW or aftermarket. There is an App you can use with your
phone called Power Amp that gives you a equalizer to adjust the frequency
content I haven't tried it but it might help a little.
If you have the same BMW stereo systems then maybe you have
a hardware problem.
If you have a 2010 or 2011 with the base system that would explain a lot.

I have a 2010 with the logic 7 and i drive fully loaded etc. This is def not a setting issue, or anything to do with a faulty cable. As i said above my roomate has the same aux plug in his car, same iphone 5, and gets VERY CLEAR sound out of it. Mine sounds worse then a scratched record. Has to be the something with my aux port because the other 3 335i's i have had all sounded great with the aux cable but this one.

Have you tried a different cable and different player? That'd center the issue with your AUX jack.

Garage List
I just had mine replaced by CarMax's warranty; I had to jury-rig it to have the sound come out properly when I first got it but now it works fine (although I rarely use it since I activated SiriusXM and they gave me 12 months ). I read around and noticed on the forums that it may also be something dislodging or a residue build-up in the port itself, and looks pretty straightforward to fix (just wipe it clean and you're good)... But then, I decided "why go through all that headache without the right tools and probably spend money when I can do it myself for free?"... SO, take it in before your warranty expires.

Are you sure is not the cable? I had the same problem and swapped my cable with a higher quality one from best buy and it sounds sooo much better and at no point cuts off.

Yep def not the cable, i took my roomates cable out of his car that sounds PERFECT, put it in my car and sounds like crap just like the other 5 cables i tried. Even the OEM Y cable sounds the same.

Def gonna take this pile in for warranty hope they dont hassle me. My seatbelts dont come out like they should, and my headlight is wobbly. Goodness sakes never had any of these issues with any other 335's.
