painting stock (amber) e92 reflectors

Has anyone tried painting their stock (amber) e92 reflectors? I'm getting some parts painted and was thinking about just having the shop try and paint the reflectors to get a more accurate paint match to the sparkling graphite metallic.

My concern is that since the amber isn't primed, the paint might chip/ peel easier than the ones we can order from our venders... Thoughts?

You would need to order new reflectors for the shop to paint. They're held in with double sided tape, and if you remove the stock ones, the tape will be trashed and they wont stick properly if installed again.

As for paint quality, im sure the shop would prime them. Shouldnt be much different than anything else that could be painted

My shop had no problem painting my reflectors. I dropped them off when I was getting my sideskirts painted and they installed them as well.

Sweet. Paint is clear and smooth? Worried that it might be rippled/ textured. I saw your post like right after I made this lol.

I could always just use a new double sided tape and remove all the old residue off the reflector and bumper

I'm about to paint my window trim to matte black, debating if I should sand the reflectors down and primer them so its easier for the shop to paint or just let them deal with it?

I had a similar question. With touch up paint and a steady hand, could the oem reflectors be painted while they are still on the car? I would of course tape off the body panel prior to this experiment. Interested to hear if anyone has done this successfully.

It's possible, but I don't think it'll look as clean if you paint it with a brush.. It'll have to be sprayed to look OEM.
