Bluetooth MULF2 module identification in ETK

Hi,
I doing a Bluetooth retrofit on my E91, but I don't know how to properly identify the right module.
As far as I know there are two types of MULF2 modules, with and without USB support. This is the one with USB support, on the lower picture there is a black connector with four pins for USB:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kiq7n2ulvb...F2_SVS_USB.JPG

When I enter my VIN in ETK I got the list of MULF2 modules without USB function, the actual part number is 9226711 which dealer also recommends.

I would like to have the USB option, but I'm not sure that the module with USB function (9224740) will work with my car.

ETK parts search, is confusing for me.

What is the proper way of finding right part for my vehicle?
1. when I enter my VIN it shows only parts that are installed in the car I think. I can't find MULF2 module with USB function at all. I doubt it wasn't an option when the previous owner chose an optional equipment

2. If I search through Part Use -> By Parts and choose my model of the car there is a lot wider choice of parts that I can use (there is a MULF2 with USB func.), but I'm not sure it will fit my car. This is specially important for control modules because of coding.

I have some experience which goes in favor of option 2. When I did a PDC retrofit I used a control unit from E87 which wasn't showed in ETK for my VIN but I was able to code it use it.
On the other hand I got, once, cruise control cluster switch and I wasn't able to code it. It was also from E87 model, cruise control commands worked but the SZL was the problem. It could be possible that the part was faulty, but I got no way to check it

Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks
mIRO

I would also be interested in knowing the answers to your questions. Have you made any progress?

I'm planning to retrofit BT in the next few months so I'll let you know. I'm still collecting other parts needed for retrofit. You can check occasionally on vmiro.blogspot.com

Yesterday I took a closer look at the trunk box. It's MULF2.

here it is:

Assuming this is the source of my problem (BT does not work), can I just buy similar unit on EBAY? I understand PTPENDING that the units are compatible, but would I need some sort of coding or is it just plug and play?

I've looked at ebay and saw many MULF2 unit, some with different numbers (mine ends with 9163348 without high basis SVS , and I see many 9183373/9187625/9200822 with high basis SVS). Di I need to buy the exact unit that I have, or can I buy other units as well?

Thanks in advance,

Nir

"high basis SVS" offer USB functionality as far as I know. So, the modul with "high basis SVS" needs coding for your car, because you got one without USB functionality

any mulf module will require coding to your car because it will announce itself as with previous car VIN ID via Bluetooth
MULF2 HIGH will work instead MULF2 , but 54-pin connector will require to cut identification rib
and yes, MULF2 HIGH allow USB Audio function retrofit

Just to confirm what ptpending said...connectors on MULF2 and MULF2 HIGH are different:

Only thing important is that we can use MULF2 HIGH instead of MULF2...in that case, I think, it's necessary to add $6FL option (USB/audio interface) when coding, in addition to $644...

if you do not need 6FL - do not add it
