There is a way around this though as you can use a credit card to make your deposit or down payment. Just make the down payment $30K...

It's like pre-paying the lease. You get the credit card points to see once that month's statement closes. Then you pay the credit card balance off every month.

But that's too risky: what if the car gets totalled?

You can't put a 30k deposit or down payment on a credit card. My dealer will only do 1 or 2k for a deposit or down payment on a credit card and even a debit card for that fact.

I wish I could have put my car payment on my credit card this whole time. Hell, I'd put my house payment on it if I could. Unfortunately, I can't do either. So be it.
That's why the country is in the shape it's in. People paying FOR credit WITH more credit.

Well in my case (and I'm guessing the OP's) it would be to get the reward points. Use the credit card for everything + pay it off each month = you're better off than paying cash initially.

Your dealer processes your credit card for the down payment...your payments are most likely through BMWFS, which does not process credit cards...

I bet there's a way to use paypal. You can pay yourself the monthly payment through your credit card, then transfer it to your checking account, then pay your car payment with it......

1) You may get significant fees through paypal
2) You may get in trouble with your CC company if they figure things out, because you're technically doing a cash advance, at a credit purchase rate...

I guess if you were in a financial emergency, that would be a way to help you out for a month....but not a permanent solution to get points..

A contract is a contact, they are not asking you to pay an extra 1-3% are they? And if they did I am sure you would be less than happy.

Hilarious thread as many are. It really is amazing though not only does leasing make the monthly payment smaller i.e. benefit cash flow, but some would rid themselves of those payments as well by putting on a cc if possible. Can you imagine actually paying nothing every month but enjoying a fine automobile? Ponzi would be proud!

Yep, I put a $500 deposit and another 2k, that was all they allowed.

The notion that we never actually have to pay for anything in full is something that has proliferated in my lifetime. How many times has someone in the office say they got a new car and it only cost them < $100 more than the old car? Just that the old car had 2 years left and they just pushed the loan out another 5 years.

Just use a convenience check, you can even write it to yourself in the amount of a payment or two and then send BMWFS personal checks from the same account.

The 5% is only on gas and groceries/drug stores, you get 1.5% on everything else.. still good but a lot less than 5%

Probably no real point for balance transferring a lease payment because you don't really save on interest... but if you have a 7% APR loan, it is entirely possible for people to balance transfer them onto 0% credit cards. Of course, do it for saving money, not to overstretch yourself.
