Service Engine Soon * How Fortunate *
Hey All,
Hopefully a few of you can throw out some pointers or may have experienced this problem. I purchased my E92 2008 335i about a month ago, since ive purchased it ive been speaking to quite a few owners of the same vehicle and some have had nothing but great things to say, and then there are few that have told me they have had their 335i in the shop more than in their own hands. Now, its been running great up until 3 days ago. I always garage my car, so, I start the engine early in the morning *Cold Start*, startup sounded great as usual, a few seconds pass by and my exhaust is spitting air rather than smoothly running as it should be. The spitting is an aggressive wind flow and obvioulsy sounds like its coming from the engine ( Dash Reads: Service Engine Soon ). Kill then engine and restart then everything sounds normal with no check engine light. This has happened three days in a row. I called into local Crevier BMW and ran the VIN. Quite a few things have been replaced (Fuel Injectors, High Pressure Fuel Pump, Coolant valve) all under warranty & recall. On the positive side it shows that the car was maintained on time and everything up to date now. Please lend any advice rather than dropping my car at the dealership just for them to say oh no everything is good, or $200 for a diagnostic check. I'm going to run my code detector tmrw morning if the check engine light shows again to get a general idea. Thanks! |

My advice is to keep reading! Most of your issues have been prevously discussed. But if you want to be proactive and save some cash, go to your local auto store and have them read the codes ( they can do it for free sometimes) and go from there... Keep us posted.

Buy a reader. If you have an android phone. Buy a BT OBDII unit for $30 and the buy the Torque app for $5.
You can read an reset codes. Otherwise buy a reader. I can't stress enough how important a reader is for *ANY* new car. They give you information and knowledge to walk into a shop and not get screwed. |

Yeah I agree with post above. I also bought one for $15.00 dlls and used the free app TORQUE via my samsung tablet and was able to read and clear my SES light. You really dont need the 5.00 dlls one to read and clear codes but I am sure the premium version its more complete than the free one.

Three35Eye check out these guys http://bulletmotorworks.com in Costa Mesa - they have gotten really great reviews on Yelp and elsewhere here at e90post. I've used Crevier for everything while I was under original warranty, but now I'm just on the CPO warranty I plan on using Bullet for everything now and if they find something would be covered under the CPO I'll take it back to Crevier for the specific repair. The owner at Bullet (Brett) knows plenty of guys at Crevier and can communicate your cars issues to them as well.
