I'm guessing asking the owner is $10k hoping to get $8.5k - $9k. Personally I wouldn't do it for more than $8K ... and would seriously offer $7.5 - $7.8k with cash in hand ... knowing fair well that it's more likely than not that I'd be putting anywhere between $500 - $1k into it within the first year. |

He said that he was flexible on price, and would subtract whatever the dealer wants for repairs. It isn't a regular no-option E90/92, the E93s tend to always be worth more regardless of age and mileage.
I can't believe how cynical everyone is. I'll keep the thread updated with what happens.

Yes, I do believe we are all aware that 335's are higher priced / resale than 328's (coupe or sedan). A quick check on KBB using 06469 zip code (used to live in East Haddam) had standard equipt in "good" condition at $7,900 for a private party sale ... $8,800 in "very good" condition. So those of us who stated it's worth about $8k are pretty much right on the money to start. But I guess you already knew that. Good luck with your mom's purchase. |

I don't know where you guys find your cars, but dealer-only serviced, private sale, well maintained 335s are pretty hard to come by. I paid $14,500 for mine (one owner, 84K) in 2015. The PO actually sold it for $22,000 before I bought it but the buyer had issues with the shipping company (going to CA). However, he was time pressed with a new Tesla delivery and basically gave it to me. There's very few local comps in identical condition with all of the features.

I would not recommend this for your mother, unless you plan on fixing all for her in your spare time This is my first E90 (09 335i) and I would not recommend this to anyone for reliable transportation. Owned it from 66k and now around 140k.
Few things I'm not sure if they were replaced, but will fail almost 99% of the time: All injectors Water pump + thermostat (worst when it fails as car just shuts off wherever you are) Valve cover gasket (in my case cracked valve cover as well) Oil pan gasket Oil filter housing gasket Boost solenoids Heater fan Not sure if walnut blasting was done as it will need that I would recommend replacing all brittle vacuum tubing Pretty sure missing other things, and if your mother still gets it then try to get the car real cheap and get aftermarket extended warranty. This is not the car to get if your life will depend on it in any way. |

LOL my mom bought her E90 brand new and still owns it. 2008 335i, 6spd manual with sport pkg. As of this moment, the car has almost 57k miles. She recently sent me a picture of her notes on every bit of maintenance the car has had, detailed with date, mileage, and exactly what was done.
I had a 2007 E90 that I bought used back in the day, but I basically bought the same car as her. She's finally thinking about getting something new, so I'm 95% sure I'm buying her BMW off of her. I just won't find another meticulously maintained car with insanely low mileage. |

I would NEVER recommend my mother buy a car that old with so many miles. I don't feel like putting my mom in an older bmw with a crap load of miles is wise or suggested. Why so old with so many miles? If it's a money issue, going with another newer non luxury brand car with less miles seems like common sense. I mean yeah, it's a bmw that has been maintained, but it's got 100k worth of miles and stress on its mechanical parts. Also, you will have a hard time putting a aftermarket warranty that will not cost you a ton due to the extremely high milage...Over the next few years you (or your mother) might end up paying 50 to 75% of the cost of the car in maintenance and random problems which happen to older engines, ESPECIALLY if the a/c goes out.
So my suggestion would be to get something newer, with fewer miles and more dependable. That may end up being something other than a bmw. No offense, but find a better value for your price range. Don't go with it just because it's a bmw and it's cool. However, if you can do all the maintenance your self then that seems better but, bmw parts are not cheap and things will break in time at that milage. Constant maintenance on your part perhaps? |
