Another AE quad exhaust review! 56k beaware!
Introduction
So finally weather in Seattle area got little better over the weekend and so i took some pictures of quad exhaust... This review supposed to be done a month ago but i had some trouble myself with the car inbetween. I have 2007 335i coupe with automatic transmission and had about 25k miles when exhaust was put on to the car. Special Thanks To First and fore-most, i must have to say big thanks to Nick@AEPerformance. Stand up guy! Can't ask to be for any more helpful or awesome. From the shipping trouble to installtion support, he stand behind everything to make sure i get the product "in-hand safely" and "installed correctly". Apperance I daily drive my BMW and droning issue will be very annoying. So I was initially looking at either used CP-E, AE or Bastuck because those are ones that are known with less or no drone on AT. At the time, AE and Bastuck were the only two with quad options. I decided to go with AE over Bastuck because it seems that some of Bastuck users are reporting that it requires welding and its' quad tips don't fit over Hamman diffuser well. So I went ahead give AE a call! Fitment on AE was just perfect on the diffuser and overall i like how it looks with my diffuser... Shipment and Initial impression Very first impression when i got the box was 'that's some very big and heavy box'... it packed very well and box was stuff with full of packaging materials to prevent any damage during shipping process. After unpacking, I looked at the welding and checking each individual pieces. Well made, Shiny, and so very impressed! it has everything that i need to install including gaskets and bolts. I've made several after market exhausts for several of my cars before and I really like flanges instead of slip joints and clamps. Just by looking at the exhaust, i could already tell it will be more efficient over OEM piping. Performance and Sound Very first thing that I noticed within seconds after installtion was sound (duh...). Deep and low gurgling as soon as i start the car. In the morning when the car is cold, it's bit louder just like OEM ones but overall, at idle, it's very quiet. It almost got me worried right after install because it was bit too quiet than i thought it'd be or it should be. I was on golf tee mod and almost didn't noticed the difference from the inside of the car at idle with music on. At first WOT, i realized that i was totally wrong about this. It's like waking up the monster. You will definitely norice a lot more agressive and mean sound. It's kinda addicting. No drone or rasp either at WOT or crusing. As far as performance of this exhaust go, I do feel that car breathe better and bit more responsive especially from 40,50mph roll to 100mph (which i do that quite often in highway). Someone can argue that it could be just in my head and i do understand that it is purely subjective as far as how I feel. Afterall, that's why people say it's "butt dyno". But at least from my butt dyno, the gain is real... Conclusion I would say that with many other exhausts out there on the market, this kind of perfomance gain is achievable as well. However, from what i can tell, it delivers the performance with no drone or rasp and is one of few quad aftermarket exhausts that fit onto diffusers without any significant modification. With careful packaging/delivery, top notch customer service they have, and reasonably priced product, AE exhaust got all the winning combinations i was expecting it from or more... It really becomes no brainer... If you are in the aftermarket exhaust market, give them a chance, you won't be disappointed... I would appreciate any comment. Thank you guys... couple more shot of front and tires that i recently put on... hehehe yeah i'm running 285s... Last edited by hun77777; 04-05-2009 at 11:00 PM.. |

Great review, but I've noticed so far on every AE exhaust review with pics that the tips just sit a bit too low.

You can adjust where you want your exhaust tip to be by adjusting mounting. I chose it to bit tad lower because i don't want burnt CF diffuser... it initially was sitting higher, almost touching the diffuser...

On the OU UO rear light picture, did anyone else notice the droop of the right side? It seems sort of weird, and I'd be scared hitting something with it hanging like that...
