You can pick up an EVGA 570 for under $200 used, and with the new cards, 3 year warranty transfers. Definitely worth the upgrade if you're on 3 monitors.

I'll be doing it myself towards the end of the summer, unless the new 660 has great clocking potential (should be priced around $300 retail at launch).

Go for a 2500K or 2550K paired with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+. Just did a build myself and went this route.

Either of those chips can run at 4GHz on stock volts (what I'm running) or 4.5 on slightly higher but still safe voltage (~1.35), both air cooled (that cooler is by far the best bang for your buck) and at reasonable temps. There are people running them at 5GHz on water cooling 24/7. Great great chips. Intel also has a $20 additional warranty where they replace the chip if you happen to fry it.

I picked up a 2550k for $170 shipped about 2 weeks ago on hardforum. Also got my mobo there for $100, looking to upgrade graphics to a 570 gtx as soon as the next GPU is released so prices come down a bit.

Tbh, you're better off going for a 670/680 due to the 3-monitor setup, but again, I'd wait a bit for a new release + lower prices.

Do you not think it's worth investing in a 3770K then? around an extra £90 in UK

My 460 is running at 800/2000 so is pretty fast - I may just get another, 2nd hand to sli. Or another 3 to 4 way ! (If I could afford that!)

Not at all. Invest that money towards a better GPU. At stock speeds (3.4 GHz), a 2500K won't bottleneck a 690 in most circumstances.

As for SLI, it's not worth it unless you already have a top-end GPU and are looking to spend more money. In 99% of other cases, SLI underperforms a single-card upgrade pound for pound.

I'd personally go with an SC 570 or 670/680 if you can afford it. I prefer EVGA since they're popular (easy to find used deals), transfer 3 year warranty, and are very easy to OC. Might want to wait for a bit for the 6** cards to drop in price with a new release, they're significantly more powerful than the 570.
