When you guys go in talk to the service advisor just know there was an old recall that requred a whole cable prelacement that involves removal of the passenger seat and carpeting.
The new recall they are just replacing a section of the cable in the trunk that has a new connector for the battery. Ensure with the service advisor and i mean ensure, that they also inspect the positive battery cable connection at the fuse box as there might be discolouration of the cable in that area as well. If thats the case they might just splice a new connector that goes into the fuse box. Here are the PDFs from another Battery Recall Thread from e90post BMW B61 08 11 Fuse Box Replacement.pdf BMW SI B61 08 11.pdf |

I didnt' get a letter just called them and I am going in next Thursday for it. Apparently it’s the cable in the front passenger area. The last one was already fixed as per car history. Thanks for the heads up!

So went in today for regular service and they also did the recall as well, I was FBO JB 4 set to bypass no issues, received a loaner and picked up the car late afternoon.

I've heard that the diesels aren't affected by this. Not sure if 100% true though.

Got mine done at maranello, they were trying to fix some rattle and screwed up but they ordered replacement for my climate control face plate.

I had these horrible symptoms for the past couple months, not being able to figure out what's wrong with the car...I called BMW of Mississauga, gave them my last 8 digits, and they told me it wasn't part of the recall. I spent good money and parts with a couple reliable mechanics, only to suddenly experience the car being dead on me.
Thank God for CAA memberships...definitely got my money's worth over two months... I called Budds BMW after 2 or 3 times of misdiagnosis, and bam, she confirmed it was part of the recall. Got it towed there the following day and completed. So, now I have to get around into looking into BMW of Canada to recover some of the inconvenience costs I experienced... BMW of Mississauga is usually great, no complaints. Whoever keyed in my VIN cost me a lot of headache, but I'm just more releived it's solved and done with more than anything. |
