Thanks. It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to ski, late winter, early spring. Weather is good for sightseeing late spring through early fall. All the big festivals in Germany (Oktoberfest, all the wine festivals) are in fall around September. For the most part there isn't a bad time of year to be in Europe, it's all up to your preference, and what you want to get out of it.

Outrageously Fun and Unforgettable! I hope to do something like this for my next ED when I return my car...I just came back from a 9 day ED for my 135i a couple weeks ago but my trip is tremendously dwarfed by the epic-ness of this trip. Congrats on the experience and the new beautiful car!

every city has a ghetto. even historical places like vienna, paris or american metropolises like new york, san francisco. you, and many others who only pass through bratislava to get to vienna, see just that, which is very unfortunate. those concrete developments you mention are all over europe. if you see one, you've seen them all. i think it was the efficient architectural style of the 80s when the population was on a rapid rise. now that most EU countries have negative population growth, people are slowly retreating back to countryside or building houses in little villages all over the place.
