No more orange peel
Getting back into detailing my cars again, so been brushing up on the forums / technique & found this, which I am sure some of you would find interesting..
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=141365 I use to like the orange peel effect until I saw that The before + After reflection shots really show the difference.. so very tempted What do you lot think? |

I aint that fussed. I prefer my original paintwork! Least it shows it aint been smacked before.
Id be wary buying an E9X without it. Could have been sprayed. (Or detailed) More likely smacked. (%wise)

I think a trained eye could tell the difference between a car thats been detailed compared to one thats been resprayed.
Personally I think a detailed car shows the owner has looked after it...

That orange peel is shocking but the end results are superb. Full respect to that bloke.

When I was getting prices on my Porka T all the sales managers commented that they could tell the car had been looked after by the condition of the paintwork alone, so yes many do notice. Some asked me if the car had been detailed - yes and maintained afterwards as well. I enjoy waxing the car tbh, bit of exercise with positive end results lol. |

That'd be minimum wage, would it not; £6.25 per hour? I seriously doubt someone with that talent would be working for minimum wage. Eighty hours is more than two weeks of work.

....gotta be 1-2k easy but the end result is 100% worth it!
There is NO WAY that car looks like it has been in a smash just because it doesn't have BMW branded orange peel factory fitted as standard Just include the invoice from the detailers in the service history - that will show any future buyers that that M3 has been cherished by an obviously fastidious owner. |

Stupuendous result and craftsmanship. The orange peeling in the photos, is quite exaggerated in its effect i reckon.
This is a £500 quid job, without a sander on an m3. I am not sure whether i would part with an additional grand to get a sander on the paintwork. I think you can get virtually similar results without it. I would also be slightly worried about taking so much clearcoat off it with a sander. Nowt wrong with that black m3s looks really is there? Im sure there is lots more left on the paint for future details vs sanding the whole car. I think its one of the most stunning m3 pics i have seen. It looks glorious. Just get it washed, clayed and professionally polished. No need for sanders all the way round the car imho. |

You really do get a 'glass' effect from the paint when it's absolutely flat and perfect. Can't see why anyone would associate that with damage or respray. Most people wouldn't realise that it had been detailed. They would just be amazed at how clean and shiny the paint was and would probably put it down to waxing. |

Nothing to do with shinyness NFS. It's loss of orange peel. Which you could also get from a respray, not just a detail.

Nobody with half a brain cell would think the car's been repsrayed ALL over because of the absence of the nasty orange peel. |
