Hi All,

I have been in love with the e92 ever since they came out. I now have the ability to afford one. My choice was between a M3 and a 335is. I went with the IS for the simple fact that I commute 120+ miles everyday and didn't want to fill her up everyday. With that being said, I am the proud owner of my new 335is. It has all the bells and whistles, DCT, and upgraded 19" wheels. I want to get the most power out of the car, doing the least amount of work. I've searched and haven't come across anything in regards to the solution I'm thinking of.

Could I pick up a set of RB turbos, and get a Cobb protune?

Listen to this man. As a recent IS buyer myself, I can tell you that fuel mileage will still suck. Also, I'd recommend a chargepipe and depending on how aggressive you plan to run the car, a new FMIC. I make long commuting trips as well and prioritized suspension along with some power mods. It gets pricey but WELL worth it. Enjoy the car!

Really? I was reading that there were issues with the JB4 G5 and the DCT transmission working properly together... depending on which Mode & Map you were in.

Mods on the way for sure are a charge pipe, 5" intercooler, still on the fence about the k&n fileter vs DCI.

Yep..For a DCT car, the cobb with a pro tune would definitely be more beneficial for that exact reason. If you had a regular 335i then it would be a toss up between JB4 and Cobb.

Do you know what issues and when that information was written? I've been using a new JB4 G5 with the newest firmware and dialed in a few IS specific settings as per Terry from BMS. Its been on for about a month now and I have had no issues with my DCT. But I'm only using straight 93 octane along with DCI and CP, so I'm not stressing the trans with WAY more power over stock. Not sure if there would be issues if I was FBO using higher octane fuel mixtures.

I don't have the IS but I'm full bolt ons running Cobb and I average 25-26mpg just like my civic SI. I don't know why. Lol

I would have went with the 335i like yourself. From light to light an m3 doesn't stand a chance against a FBO 335 unless u throw on a SC. Flame me

I recommend Cobb just because it's an all out flash and not a piggyback. Easier to install and remove. Best of all the custom tunes are amazing. Good luck.

One of the more reasons for you to have purchased the M.

-Ms are easier to sell
-they hold value better (wait to see depreciation hit on your car)
-you're gonna lose all the cash you put into modifying your car now, and being it a daily driver for such a long distance, the lack of reliability will be a great concern.

Fuel consumption will not be much better on the modified car.

But, what's done is done. Enjoy!

OP I say COBB w/ProTune. PTF, and Wedge Tuning are popular options.

mostly the n54 engine tuning section. Also I got this car for a steal, as I had a really good relationship with the local BMW dealership. 35k out the door with the extended 100k warranty mechanical/electrical/windshield/wheel & tire. The car only has 42k on it as well.

If you're getting an intercooler might as well go 7" for max cool and get the DCI, with an intercooler you won't need to worry about heatsoak and you'll love the sound!
