Bought a crashed 335i won't start! Fuel cut off switch? Need help!

Bought a crashed 335i the seat/curtain airbag blew. It was starting just fine although it was misfiring and blowing black smoke. The BST cable in the back for some reason was not blown so the car did start. Usually they are blown when the airbags go off.

The car was jumped multiple times from the battery terminals in the rear. Just got it back from the body shop and they said the car was dead wouldn't start. I tried to start it and it DOES CRANK but does not start. It sounds like its not getting fuel even though there is fuel in the tank. I've read there is a fuel cut off/inertia switch that cuts off fuel when in an accident? Does anyone know where this is?

1. I've switched batteries with another 335i and same issue so its not the battery.
2. It cranks so its not the starter.
3. I have not replaced the BST cable since it is not blown.
4. I've read that it might be the CAS? But the steering wheel is not locked. So any suggestions?

Also when I put the key in there is no chimes and the navigation screen does nto turn on but the lights come up on the dash and the over head light on the roof turns on.

Did you read BMW or OBD codes? You need to scan for BMW codes.

The only codes I got on my scanner were codes saying cylinder 2 4 and 5 that were misfiring I didn't get any other codes from the OBD reader. Where do you get these "BMW" codes from?

You need to at least get yourself a chiltons manual and start there. Could be any number or reasons the car won't start. Loose ground maybe?

Just google "bmw codes" and it'll give you a couple of links with the list of codes and what they mean.. if i were you id start with opening up that valve cover see what it looks like under there specially if theres oil there.. the fault codes will give you an idea where to start but other things could be wrong so just try to get it running and go from there

He means scan with a Peake reader or something of the sort versus reading with a generic OBD II scanner.

Our cars can store very detailed diagnostic codes. These codes are unique to BMW and you must use a scanner capable of reading BMW specific codes. An OBD scanner is only going to read basic generic codes, mostly related to emissions.

There is likely a stored BMW code related to your problem.

I use the Carly adapter and app to scan. There are many others out there.

fuel cut off switch is normally in the trunk of the car somewhere

Can anybody else comment on this? I've read that it doesn't exist on the e9x chassis but on the 5 series it does

Have you checked if intelligent battery sensor? If you don't replace that after an accident the car won't start.

If you have to keep jumping it, get a fresh battery, overcharging a battery connected to the ecu can damage it, and modules. Buy a forechecking battery, ck for proper voltage, clear codes, and wait to see what comes up.

Jumping these cars: Positive and negative terminals in the engine bay only. Jumping from rear battery terminals will damage ECU and other components.
Hope you are lucky.
