Plug the cluster back into the car without the needles installed. You should hear the car make some noise. Then press the needles on and pointed to 0. That should be it. Unplug and reassemble the cluster then put back in car.

Any idea how/why my cruise would stop working after this mod?

Shouldn't have any affect on cruise that I'm aware of.

I know with the cruise control, there is a little white indicator line to set the speed - could not aligning this properly or something throw it off?

Just as an indicator. It shouldn't keep it from working.

Did anyone figure out how to make the LEDs brighter by removing the correct resistor(s)?

Hello,
I did this white gauge mod and also I replaced all orange LEDs to white in interior and all is OK but on Professional radio white color is a little bit different then rest of them, it has a slight yellowish color, not bright white like others. When I remove plastic trim from radio, LEDs are bright as all other, the problem is in plastic of buttons, color of plastic is not full white and because of that color on front side is changed, "darker" or yellowish. Do somebody here had experience like that? Is there any solution to make it look right?

I do not know if this will be useful. But in my white gauge retrofit I have decided to test what colour and brightness LEDs would be the best. Of course to each their own and what one will like, will be hideous for another.

As such, I must disclose that I am an anti-fake-blue-light-type of person. The 12000K deep purple fake HIDs do not appeal to me, and I had done xenon retrofits before.

I have tested a range of 300x, 500x, 700x, 1200x, 1600x, 2100x mcd rated less. All purchased from Digi-Key and all said to be between 5600K to 6500K. A bit on a blue side, but nonetheless. However, when one buys from a reputable source and just a few LEDs and not from a reel, there is no chromacity guarantee. Naturally, I have ended up with anything between a fairly natural 4000K range LEDs to closer to 7000K more on a purplish side LEDs.

Being an anti-blue-purple kind of a guy, I was surprised that for the dash LEDs I had preferred to be not even in a 5000-6000K range but closer to 7000K with a crisp tinge of purple.

Brighness-wise I have tested all of them and for a while was driving with a set of 1680mcd LEDs. They were great in the day (with permanent dash lighting coded) and were nice at night. However, after a while i had noticed that they were quite bright and I had to dim my dash lights quite low. Did not like it as navi and all dash lighting was too dim. And my distance vision suffered dramatically especially on dark highways.

Turn two. From the sets of lights I had purchased, the only other ones I got that were closer on a chromacity coordinates to the 1680mcd light I had, were 562mcd ones. So, I had used those and they are close to perfect. I could turn the dash brightness just a tick over half and all is beautiful.

In conclusion, I think for a person such as myself, the best would be in a 700mcd range with a colour temperature closer to about 7000K, surprisingly.

Have some comparo pictures but may be useless with the variety of camera settings and monitors out there to get consistency in white balance.

You probably pushed the worm gears out of place when pressing the needles back on. You'll have to open the white boxes on the back of the PCB and put them back in place.

For some reason, on my car now when I unlock the car or a few seconds after I lock it, all the needles bounce up and down. Any ideas ?

I read that putting the M3 gauge rings on is a PITA.
I'd like to add them to my car... anyone car to elaborate what the challenges are ?

Only real challenge is room. It's a very tight fit and easy to scratch the inside of the lens.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it also true that you need to break the glass away from the bezel in order to access the rings ? I read that somewhere as well.

Any tricks I can use to prevent scratching the glass ? Like sliding some thick paper inbetween or would you not be able to remove it once reassembled ?

Where's the best place to buy the white LEDs at this time ?

Tnx.
