JB4 Map 5 or 1 = 30FF, Map 4 = no issue

Running Map 5 or map 1 on my JB4 gives me a 30FF WOT. I gun it, psi builds to ~10-12 psi, car shifts gears, psi drains until it drops below 5 psi at which point the 30FF code is thrown.

Map 4... I gun it, psi builds to 8-9psi, car shifts, psi drains but stays just north of 5psi. No code is thrown.

My car is stock except for JB4 and DCI - '07 e90.

My turbos were replaced ~3k miles ago so I can't imagine they are already struggling.

I've tried to listen for the "tornado siren" sound but all I hear is the whistle of the DCI. Is there anything else I should be on the lookout for? Will a smoke test show anything since psi goes away after gear shift only? I'm not sure when my plugs were last changed - could it be that? No SES is thrown.

At a loss on this one... Any help is appreciated.

That would be step 1. if that test is negative i.e no leak, then you start looking at your vacuum lines, canisters etc... if there is nothing there, then you change your boost solenoids (or borrow two from a friend and test them...). I had an issue where my car underboost after 5000rpm , it turned out to be the boost solenoids.

Smoke tests really dont work on boosted cars. There is no pressure. You need atleast 15-20 PSI of pressure for a smoke test to work.

Check connections and hoses for Vac/boost lines, intercooler and charge pipe.

Just bought a gauge so I can go through this checklist to verify the integrity of the hot side:

Hopefully I find the leak that way... My guess is the hoses are fine but the solenoids aren't working

My guess would be boost control as well based on your description

I think I found the issue... The little 2" pipe connecting the wastegate side of the solenoid to the T connector was barely on. It has a ~0.5" crack up the side of it. I could flick it on and off the solenoid with one finger.

Hopefully that's the only issue and I can escape this repair with $5 in damage.
