Does my 07 E91 have a DPF, remap Question and others....
I recently got an E91 320d 2007 and was wondering if it has a DPF? From reading other posts on here it looks like they were fitted from Sept 07 onwards on the efficient dynamics version - is this correct? My car was first reg in May 07...
Secondly is there much difference in the various remaps available? The local bmw specialist does Autologic remaps and there is also a Superchips dealer nearby - I would rather get it done reasonably locally. Thirdly are the E9x Hanes manuals any good - I haven't seen any other manuals available. Thanks |

As far as I know, the efficient dynamic cars were September 07 production onward at which time they got the 177bhp engine, the DPF as standard and the auto start/stop. Cars with DPF fitted had oval exhaust which pointed straight out and previous cars had turned down exhaust.
DPF was an option prior to efficient dynamics but I don't know if the exhaust was changed when that option was specified. Being May '07 your car will be the 163bhp without stop/start and most likely without a DPF. Evolve and DMS maps seem to be the maps of choice for people on this forum but I've never heard of bad words being spoken about any of the main-stream mappers. Haynes: Don't know. |

Thanks Alan, If it was an option I guess the easiest way to tell would be to jack it up and have a look underneath at the exhaust unless there is an easier way...

Foe info the build date at BMW is on a sticker on the underside of the bonnet near the front.
If you go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and enter the last 7 digits of the VIN I think you can decipher it's spec......but not totally sure how! |

Just look at the tailpipe. If it bends down, then no DPF. If it doesn't, and is just straight out, it's got a DPF

Ah! So in pre efficient dynamics cars, if you selected the DPF option they also changed the exhaust at the rear?

It should be. Try revving it hard and see if you get smoke. That's also a dead give-away.
