Brave ones who bought/replaced Rotors/Pads themselves. A lil help?

Looking at the parts list needed to replace front brake pads/rotors,

34116799166 - Repair Kit, Brake pads ($110 for front axle)

34116854999 - Brake Disc ($100 each, $200 for front axle)

83122296187 - Brake pad Paste ($2)

34356789439 - Brake pad wear sensor ($20)

Q1: What is included in "repair kit, brake pads"? Is it just 4 pads for fronts? or is there certain special parts included for the installation?

Q2: For those who did install by themselves, any difficulties or special tools needed that I should know about? Saw some DIY and videos, looked very straight forward. Any info on torque specs for each?

Q3: Any good websites or parts seller in e90post for pads/rotors?

I want to just buy some aftermarket pads/rotors online and sensor off ebay for cheap. Installing this on my own will save me some money and I get to have fun with it.

Thanks for the info. How are the rotors from 88rotors? It seems like they sell their own manufactured rotors that are direct replacements and prices are decent. A little skeptical since they are probably generic ones...

A lot of tuners use them... the only thing I don't like is they are not coated against rust... check their website for more info....

Bavarian autosports has two great videos on YouTube for the DIY. Makes it very clear and obvious what to do, and how to do it. You just have to figure out which parts to use.

Hardest part for me was getting the old rotors off because they were seized on pretty good. Other than that, its pretty straight forward.

Rubber mallet works wonders here.

Yea hardest part was getting the rotors off for the first time and breaking the bolts loose for the calipers. Some penetration spray will help ya get them off also

I got Zimmerman Zinc-Coated Rotors from this site: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...gs+Best+Seller

These sensors from the same site: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...gs+Best+Seller

Cool Carbon Pads and Rotor Drum Hold Down Bolts (don't skip on these, cheap and if you strip the other ones you wont be screwed [no pun intended]) from this site: http://www.bavauto.com

I only replaced the rears so can't tell much of a difference from the stock pads other than some brake dust which is much less. Also don't forget the brake cleaner and brake paste which you can just buy from your local auto store.
