Took my car in today and was told a new recall on the programming popped up for my car. I have had all emissions recalls and associated programming performed prior to this.

I got the same request for an ecu reprogram when I took my car in 2 weeks ago. I asked the dealer what exactly the update was supposed to fix and apparently at redline there is the possibility to throw a code related to the emissions system, so this update is to keep the car from throwing the code.

Since I very rarely take the car to redline I asked if they could not proceed with the ECU reprogram as I already had aftermarket programming and so they complied with my request and only carried out the normal warranty oil and def service/ inspection.

Good to know this isn't a big deal then if that's the case. Although my car was rock solid and ran like a champ before all this emissions BS and related programming.

I'm going to force them to do this on the spot while I wait. None of this "we need 3-4 hours to do this" or "please take a loaner" crap from them.

This time I'm going to lose it on them.

Just got this done today, along with another recall for the dpf mixer (the part that sprays the dpf into the exhaust). The mech explained that some of the D's had the updated part, and some didn't. The only way to tell was to take it out and see. He said that the old p/n had the "vanes" too close together, or something, and could get clogged due to the dpf crystallizing in/on it. Haven't gotten on it hard since getting it back (got a '13 328 as a loaner, btw:-) , but mpg seems the same. Whole process, including checking rear brake pads, took ~6 hrs.

I usually fill with V-PowerShell Diesel and there's a significant difference

Mine in the shop for this now. My urea fluid was (supposedly) filled at 25.6k miles, and at 28.6k miles the computer said I had 1k left to drive. I was wondering if the recall messed up some coding and had high urea fluid usage and this is fixing it. Thats what the shop manager thought after I had used the urea fluid so quickly.

Had the same problem and it ended up being a bad metering valve.

@335dM a guy whom drives a lot of diesels and had an F250 told me that SHELL was expensive but the results were way better, and so far it has not been wrong, I just refilled my second tank on it and will see what it does. Car is running great but I have to have the dyno run to see if any of RENNtech's flash has been removed.

No way the RennTech is still there, not possible. I'm facing the same sutuation. Truck has been recalled, gotta go in next week. I've called Mega-Speed they will have to recalibrate the file based on the updated software. Said there would be no charge for it. Sucks that it'll cost me some 600ml. drive.

Good to know. They just filled the tank up again and sent me on my way (after software update). So if it happens again in 3k miles, I'll have them check that too.
