I also tweaked the alignment a bit to a more sporting setting, that together with the susp makes it pretty tossable, very satisfying to drive and get aggressive with. Before it felt like it would roll over. Note presently I have 18" 189 OEM wheels and Conti DWS in stock staggered size. I live in the mountains and you nearly always need some all season capability 8-9 months out of the year. |

I haven't run the 18s (winter) on the new suspension yet, but I'll be doing the swap next week, as it's getting cold up here, and smells like snow in the morning. Not a good thing when you've got slicks on there, even with AWD. |

Crap. All this trash talking the H&Rs and praise with the Eibachs...
I really need to switch to the Eibachs from H&R. The H&Rs are way too harsh in the city roads. I'll definitely be investing in the eibachs if it means a better ride over potholes/bumps. I just haven't decided if I should stick with Bilsteins (which I have now) or the Koni yellows.

I don't know that it's trash talking. They're just a lot less daily driver friendly.
For people that care less about ride, and want to look slammed, the H&Rs are a better option. Also, people that do less daily driving, and want a stiffer and lower track solution, the H&Rs may work better as well. |

That being said, my H&Rs suck for DD. Too harsh for daily driving. Gonna find myself a set of Eibachs.

I have h&r for my e90 xdrive match with blistein honestly... Its not meant for dd.. Especialy where im from.. Up north canada can get up to -40.. Yes i drive it all year round and yes the h&r is driveable... If u want dd go for eibach... I have eibachs now sooo much better yes doesnt look as good but i dont like the rake so thats good.. If the h&r didnt come with the rake i woulda been ok driving it..

I don't know why I thought that said 2005, but you're right. the 06 is the same chassis.
Sorry about that. |

So i just swapped my winter wheels (oe 189) on and with this suspension, the rears are way too deep in the well. Looks terrible.
Anyone running this setup with 189s? What spacers did you use? |

What's the life/durability of the shock/spring combo compared to coilovers? I've been too careful with my driving around NY with my KW V1s and want to worry less when I drive, so I'm parting my suspension and looking to go the stock route. If I can do Bilsteins and springs for a little more of a drop while maintaining OEM suspension durability, then maybe I can go this route to lessen the withdrawal of being lowered.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...49&postcount=1 "Comfort" and "Improved Ride Quality" are of course opinion, and everyone has different needs, tastes and requirments. This is a review thread about a specific setup, and my experience with it. It's not a catch-all, all-xi suspension upgrade/replacement options thread. |

My guess is the Bilstein/Eibach setup is no worse than stock for durability. That said, people tend to drive on suspensions long after their useful life is completed (25k-40k miles), so it also depends on how you define that. I replaced my setup at 50k, and I think it was long overdue. |

Kind of a noob question here but does Xdrive with the right suspension setups (coilovers, strut bars, sway, etc.) handle better on the track or on corners than a RWD with the same upgrades?

The xi is heavier by 200 lbs, but uses yaw and speed (a^d slippage) to distribute power I'd pick the i if it had a LSD hands down, and still probably without one,
