I would be down for that, and it will give me some motivation to really give it 100% during spring cleaning

Dang that is tempting...

On a side note, I saw a black e90 335 (maybe xi) this morning on Crooks between 14 & 15. Had the MSU license plate. Looked like it could be an LCI M-Tech setup, had silver winter wheels on. Is this anyone on here? Nice car!

For sure man! Me and a few people on here get together a few times over the winter, I'll see if they want to make a thread for it.

and xDrive would be nice...but that's what Blizzaks are for

I've got WinterSport M3s on mine, but deep snow with the low ground clearance still makes things tricky.

I miss my Blizzak-equipped WRX STI without any electronic safety nets... talk about the most fun you can have in the snow

Been lurking here for years with the occasional post, but never really got into the local scene much. Good to see there's a pretty good SEMI following

Took me two hours to dig out my driveway, but once I did the M3 worked like a champ this morning on I-275. It was great because traffic was extremely light (surreally so, in fact ), and I got to work in less time than I do on a normal day. I intentionally drove in the snow covered lanes some times and the car never skipped a beat. RWD + snow tires = win.

Did you venture out or stay in?

Too bad its not a real OEM M3 bumper, or I would pay you double that. Mine's got a nice big dent in it.

Luckily I had a garage for Tuesday night, so Wednesday I (with the driveway plowed) I headed out for some fun. It was hardly a snowpocalypse, but as you said, the roads were completely empty - kind of eery!

The snow tires (and stability control) definitely inspire huge amounts of confidence on the road, but in empty neighborhoods easing the traction/stability control and getting sideways sure is fun.

Just wish the car (or any car really) had heated wheel wells to help melt/clear them of caked snow/ice. I guess the demand for it isn't large enough, but still seems like a tech option mfrs should develop!

I am with you on having a little fun when the roads are empty or traffic is light. I confess I actually broke the rear loose intentionally on the highway last wednesday a couple times too, just to see what it was like at speed (70mph or so). Not something I would do regularly but worth it to get a feel for controling the car. Glad to hear someone else was out there in their bimmer on that day too.

Good idea on the heated wheel wells, btw. As long as we are adding new luxo gadgets - I'd add heated wheels to that too. We were out in the 335i in snowmaggedon II this weekend and drove through some pretty deep stuff. Come Sunday morning my wife went to the store and the car was shaking violently because some of the snow had turned too ice and became stuck to the inside of the wheels. I had to go in and chip it away with my bare hands since my gloves wouldn't fit between the wheel and brakes/shields.

You can see good pics of the car if you look through theads of some of the past MI meets.

Here's a crappy one I took while out driving around to break in the car after I got it:
