I know that road. Went down there, at some speed (within the limit though) when I got my first 350Z (maybe even the S2000; can't remember). Only had the car a week or so and had a real blast on a dry and clear day.

Since that memorable journey I went again as my in-laws lived just past Hawes, a tiny tiny village called Thornton Rust, we visited some of their old friends who owned the only pub there - another great blast.

Shame your car gave up though (yours looks virtually identical to my old 335i).

My first great driving memories are Hawes, Muker and the Buttertubs Pass etc.

Last good drive? Most weekends out of the silly tourist season. Cracking stuff around here.

Really like the roads in Scotland and parts of Wales too. Celtic roads rule!

Just perfect roads

For a BMW 1200GS!

Narrow, hilly roads, offcamber turns, gravel in the corners and the odd sheep lurking around the bends

great drive for me was last weekend....when it was wet and i had DTC off....

I really need to find out how other RWD vehicles "behave" in the wet....AWD makes such a difference, when exiting a corner....you can floor it and the car would only slide...whereas my one, the rear snaps and loses control very easily....Not sure if its the runflats or lack of lsd....(maybe my driving? )

I nearly lost it at a roundabout....was in DS mode and i pressed the accelerator at the wrong moment...( i didn't fully "exit" the roundabout and steering wheel wasn't straight...even though, it was a gentle touch...) the rear violently oversteered to my right....and i had to steer the other way and gently apply the brakes...i really shitted myself this time...i could also see the DSC flashing....
