ordered sstt

Well I just pulled the trigger and ordered my sstt. What is the best way to install, put engine to sleep or disconnect the battery? I have seen people post both ways on here before but does it really matter?

I would disconnect battery, just to make sure the ECU reset's before you can adapt the SSTT.

Yeah just disconnect the neg cable for quick easy install. I didn't have anyone at the time to help, so I managed to stick both arms thru the opening to upclip the harness.

FWIW, I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I disconnected by battery to install the SSTT, and when I plugged it back in I got a message on my dash saying that AWD and DSC had malfunctioned. I turned off the car and turned it back on, same message. After driving about 30 feet, the messages went away, and have never come back.

NORMAL, i added this to the DIY for the SSTT for XI models. the AWD system re-calibrates itself after the battery pull thats all.

most people leave the battery disconnect for up to 1 hour and as low as 10-15min i guess it personal perference.
btw dont forget to install the SSTT while the battery is disconnected

Disconnect the battery, wait 40min, go back and do you're magic....if the AWD shit comes on just turn wheel all the way left andall the way right...and you're good.

I used the "sleep" method, felt a different right away and improved as adjusting (3 or 4 days). No question it works as advertised.

Enjoy

Officially I can say that either works as well as the other method. The advantage to the battery disconnect is that adaptation begins as soon as you start up the car. If you put the car to sleep adaptation takes about 35-50 miles of driving to get started again. In the end both will adapt to the same performance level.

Enjoy your SSTT it is a blast! For a real kick add a few gallons of race gas every now and then!

I did not disconnect the battery but using one of the method (warm engine method) and I did the WOT run until the next day. Did I make any mistakes during the installation?

Should I disconnect the battery only and wait for 45 min. w/o removing the SSTT or re-do the whole procedures again (i.e. disconnect the battery and re-install the SSTT)?

If I decide to disconnect the battery, do I need to unplug the SSTT again?

you can disconnect the battery as many times as you want. the only reason to disconnect the battery is to put the car to sleep so it doesnt notice the TMAP sensor being unplugged or anything for the SSTT install. after it is install it has been sync'd with the car in a way.

anywhere from 15 minutes to a hour... i guess the moment you disconnect the battery everything resets right away anyways. some people seem to think it takes longer. to each there own.
