Oil Sensor bad

I have done 3 oil changes 1st @ ~7500mi no oil consumption, so on the 2nd oil change ~14500mi put in 6qt and let the oil sensor update itself showed oil at full, put the 7th qt in. On 3rd oil change ~25000 put in 5qt let oil sensor update itself (at idle) still showed full with only 5qt in oil pan, put the other 2qts in. My question is should I tell the dealer about my experiment because it seems my sensor does not work?
