Timing Chain Service Interval
So my car is just over 140k and my question is when should i consider getting a timing job done? I also may be trading the car in next summer and don't want to sink a bunch of money into it just to trade it in.
What are your guys thoughts on this?

chains will go well over 200, if you're really concerned you could change the tensioner
if you don't have any chain slap I wouldn't worry tho |

chain slap would make a knocking noise in your engine when it revs up |

My main concern is every once in a while my friends tell me they see a small puff of bluish smoke coming out of exhaust when i get on it. Im thinking my valve seals are starting to wear. Think I should be concerned about this? Dont think I want to rebuild the head if I only plan on keeping the car for another 10k thanks

sorry, forgot to check
is it when you floor it? if the car's warm, it could just be running a little rich under full throttle, are you tuned or stock ecu? |

Yeah its when I floor it and I do have a custom tune, thats what I thought but my friend said it was bluish so that leads me to believe its blowby and not excess fuel burning off. Its only every once in a while and its only a little bit of a blue puff

highly unlikely that you'd have ring wear at your mileage without severely neglecting oil changes etc, but I guess it's possible?

hmm interesting, I did buy the car at 74k so I guess its possible but its only every once in a while and now that i think about it, it is shortly after I start the car so its probably valve seals

Anybody help. Mine is a 318D built June 09 should I be worried or had BMW carried out a modification around this time. Also with my engine serial number will BMW advise that I am in the clear with a modified chain.
