It could be the way you are driving also? Are your round trips uphill both ways?

when I drive with the Cruise control set for freeway speed limit +5 MPH and did a trek in 20*F temps from NJ --> IL with JB4 on Map0... I got two fill-ups with less than 2 ticks on the fuel gauge remaining with 27.5 MPG on a 2008 335xi FBO.

On the way back from IL --> NJ in 20*F this time with JB4 on Map5 (Auto Tune)... I got 31.5 MPG using the same method on the drive coming in.

In everyday usage I get about 25.5 MPG of mixed freeway/city, these numbers are all based on what the OBC tells me and I reset the OBC with each fill-up while the car is OFF. My distance travelled / gallons pumped = ~1 MPG less than what the OBC reports.

Are the turbo waste gate/s not covered on the newer cars? I know the 335i from 07-10 are covered for 8 years or 82k miles I believe.
Now I agree on the water pump, mine just went out. Im sure the 335is shares a lot of its parts with the 335i, so this will be something that will most likely go out after your warranty is done. Mine died at 62k miles.

True but you don't need to get a new set or new tire if the nail was not in the sidewall or the tire wasn't in low pressure (below 10 I believe). Mine had a nail and was fixed, still perfectly fine and that was 4 months ago. They are crap though, one of my front one's has a bubble on the side wall

Thats horrible!! My Cobra gets around that on 100% city stop and go with 13 gallons. My BMW gets around 230-240 also on 13 gallons on same scenario, I always gas up when its a bit over half on my last quart. Again, I dont see the 335is being any different even in gas over a 335i.
When I went to Vegas I avg around 28MPG, was a 260 mile trip and still had about a quart and a half. Also driving around 75-80 MPH, did it under 3.5 hours.

if u can get a warranty and extended warranty for your car please get it because if u dnt u might regret it later. like other have said it is hit or miss. but ill say this, hpfp, vanos selonoid, vacum hoses basically the n54 engine as a whole unreliable. i own a 09 335i and i just dropped it off to the dealership for probably a week because they have to look into those problems i just mentioned. and bte did u know there was a class action lawsuit brought against bmw for the high pressure fuel pump look it up.

...
You are correct regarding the 8/82K. I don't know how it's been handled for the newer cars. Mine is the last BMW I bought with the N54/N55 motor.

The bigger issue is that when the dealer addresses the waste gate, they are quite likely to degrade the effectiveness of the seals on the damn turbo thing. So, afterwards, when you floor it or accelerate hard, you may get the limp mode indicator. You'll take it back to the dealer. If you are under warranty still, no problem; it'll be fixed and that's that. If you are out of warranty when you discover it and take it back, you'll have a hard time making the case that the seals only went bad because the dealer weakened them when fixing the waste gate problem.

9k on my IS and no problems yet (knock on wood). And I'm getting about 18.5mpg in mostly city driving but I do like to rip on it a lot to hear that glorious exhaust note!

Update: Blew the charge pipe, running 17.5psi. Replaced it with a BMS metal one. Still no other issues. Just started on my second set of tires with 23000 miles on the DW's. Rears were worn to the wear bars but fronts still had at least a winters worth of tread on them.

Replaced the fronts only because of a patch plug very near the sidewall that had a slow leak. Was the second patch that leaked. The hole was too close to the sidewall & the flexing was pulling them apart. Not worth the risk when you don't have a spare.

I've got a 2011 6MT Alpine White 335is with 72k miles. I've had it since Dec. 2014...

The biggest problem I had with it is the (PLASTIC ) valve cover was cracked and broken in several spots. But I've also had spark plugs go bad and a battery die while I've owned it.

UPDATE 4/27/18: As of today, need to replace spark plugs again. Coil packs are dying. I had a water leak thru my passenger door, so I replaced the evap seal. I just had the valves walnut blasted. I'm currently at 86,000miles and I've had her since 42,000miles. After the walnut blasting, this car has never ran better since I've owned it. It's incredible how the car feels. It's like it was suffocating this entire time, and now my throttle response and performance is on point.

I have now 105,000 Km on my is. That's about 65K miles. Had the car for 2 years. It's stock - only change is the RB PVC. Issues which I all dealt in my garage: Blown valve cover - changed spark plugs at the same time. Faulty injectors - changed with index 12 (original were index 8). Blown WP. While doing Valve cover, did OFG & oil stem gasket. Brought the car to my friend who has his own BMW repair shop (guy is ex-BMW master tech) and did the walnut blast exercise.
Since I purchased the car comfort access is not working, blowing a 5A fuse - probably a short. My friend told me he knows what the issue is and will fix it for me. Need to find time to leave it with him for the day.

I'm doing for the last 2 years a consistent 12.3mpg in city doesn't matter if summer or winter. That's 12.5 l/100km.

All the above issues happened within the first 2 months after my purchase. No issues since.

2011 DCT with 85K miles. I exploded the CP the other day running a Stage 2 file, but that's to be expected. Knock on wood, as there have been no issues so far. I put just over 800 miles on it yesterday, and it purred like a kitten the entire drive.

My car is bone stock and I've only had 3 issues come up with my car in the 2.5 years of ownership. Had the the car since 40k and there is 75k on the clock. The following work has all been done under warranty.

1) Replaced all plugs, injectors, and coils @50k due to rough idle and hesitation on WOT.

2) Replaced 3 out of 4 wheels do to hairline cracks. (thank God for Tire and Wheel protection)

3)Replaced all transmission Pan cover and gaskets @62k due to oil weeping (Apparently this is on not uncommon with DCT equipped cars.)

Other than that, the car has has been a joy to own.
