What happens when a $1,450.00 part makes one lose their warrany on a

+1: It's a great product and I've never had a problem with customer support. Plus, they are one of the few that makes public the beta testing, new development, and even shares useful knowledge about tuning. I've never had so much fun with a car.

These threads are tiresome, especially from new members who don't even own the product??

The owner lives with the fact that he was too lazy to remove the mod before taking it in for service. And even in this highly unusual worse case scenario, they only void the warranty on the drivetrain, not the entire car. I'm guessing those guys have a very hard time in other aspects of life as well, so it probably isn't a big deal in the end.

Odd, I still have my warranty.. Should we do a poll of all the ProCede users here? I'm guessing that since no one is screaming bloody murder that they all still have their warranty..

So just off hand why didn't you mention AA, JB or SSTT as well since those void your warranty.. Oh and here is a question so if I have the Dinan flash, and a BMW Extended warranty, what happens at say 75k miles if the turbos go out? Do you really think BMW is going to cover that under their warranty?

I agree with that, xpt for the 16yrs part. Everyone has their flavor they like, no reason to hate on it. When you have something that is advancing and updating so much such as PROcede, I could understand why there are problems. Thats technology for ya. I don't hold them up high and I think all the products out there are awesome. I almost got the Turbo Tuner just cuz it was easy but I love power rofl and I still am watching the results of the Dinan flash, but none of this is because I'm not happy with my PROcede--- i'm just a player in the game of tuning, just always planning my moves.

I know the chip puts down some decent #'s, but we have to stop providing Shiv business. The chip cost to much compare to what you get in return. I've notice, once you buy the chip, you are on your own. Is up to you to start searching the forums for related problems and ask questions among ourselves to find answers. Many of you who bought or haven't bought, notice that when you have a problem or question, Shiv never answers the forum unless is a known issue like "3-4 gear" related. Again, I'm not knocking his product or trying to promote some other one, but we have to stop giving him business until he drops the prices on the chips or use some of that big profit he makes and invest back in his company for customer relation and support. Please let me know how you feel about this as well. We have to make a difference now.

Blasphemy!

Dinan guarantees payment on anything that BMW would Exclude due to Dinan's software...

How much Coverage would Shiv offer for a faulty product??
ie., one that causes extensive engine damage through no negligence of the purchaser?

Read the question, you obviously missed that it was after the original warranty period.. Dinan only matches the original warranty, basically if anything happens after that you have to hope that BMW doesn't decide it's flash related.

Oddly enough I was thinking the same thing about Dinan users..

In the end it comes down to going with what you feel comfortable with, for some that's V2, JB2, AA, SSTT for others that will be Dinan, all personal preference. In the end it's all about leaving those big old american V8 in our rearview mirrors..

here is my opinion in a similar thread.

People insist on whining and pointing fingers when something goes wrong, and i've said it before and i'll say it again, if you want the mod with the highest gain you have to deal with the consequences. Where in the world did people come up with the idea that adding 100+whp/100wtq was going to come without any problems? the car was going just sit and say ok, lets go.

edit: the mere fact that PROcede is the most advanced and capapble tune out there, may be its weakest link, which is where all of the problems come in, there are too many variables.

And people cry about the $1450 price tag, i would jack up the price to $2500 jsut to eliminate all of the queezers.

little notice for all, if by any chance you are a spoiled little brat, please don't buy a PROcede, go for something else.

Now, lets start the countdown till this thread gets closed.

edit #2: for the comment on Terry's customer service skills, out of curiosty how JBs are out on the street as we speak? whatever that number is, when he gets to 1000+, come back and let me know good his customer service skills are. This is in no way an insult to Terry, BTW, just giving an example.

I never said they were bad, its a simple numbers game as an example, by Terry's own admission he has sold over 200 units. Customer service isn't that hard when half of your units are in your own state. Multiply that by 5 and include 4 major continents.

This goes back to my initial post, the only flaw that i see with the PROcede is its complexity, but at the same time it is what makes it reign supreme among other tunes. On the contrary, the JB is plain jane, therefore not many issues.
the OTHER Shiv bashing thread is here:
