drive it and then post, dont take the words of some writers who didnt know how to drive it. There is nothing wrong with SMG, and as an owner, I think I have a bit to say as to this.

May as well have made them all manual then. Stupid.

Not really something you can teach, it's something you learn overtime how the car behaves. The way you ease up on the gas pedal, or prod it will initiate up/down shifts in auto-mode. Or accelerating then lightly easing up will initiate a shift. Again, you learn it over time an with experience it becomes second nature. It really is a remarkable system once you get in tune with it. In some ways, I feel more connected with a SMG than I do with a rubbery-feeling e90 manual.

Will you be removing your fenders and windshield to emulate F1 too? We get it, you like it, many of us who have driven SMG don't, even though some of us like dual clutch setups (and some don't). It's really that simple. Keep on enjoying it, it's rare to have a car you'll defend.

Im not defending anything as I have no need to. Im providing some context and experience from an actual owner, not as someone who had a test drive or two. I could care less what anyone else actually feels about SMG, I enjoy it and shall continue to

Never had any problems with SMG in my E46 M for in town driving, recommend it be set on the faster shift settings though.

I've driven E60 M5's before with SMG transmission and I noticed they were very jerky in automatic mode while driving around town. I found that if I manually shift via the paddles into first and second gear and then I shift it into automatic mode, it is much better in terms of jerkiness. After 2nd gear the car shifts just fine IMO so if you could, from a standstill just up-shift manually then flip it into automatic mode.
