Strange sound comming from engine

I've never heard this before today. The engine was hot at the time I realized this was comming from the engine.

Check those video to hear it.

Any idea what it could be? It don't seem to follow the engine RPM speed.

Sounds like an electrical whine. Id normally say it was the alternator going out, but the whine doesnt change when the RPMs change. Im going to take a stab and say, get your water pump checked. Its the only other electrical motor I can think of. Final guess on my part would be power steering pump going bad. Does the sound change when youre sitting in your driveway and turn the wheel left or right?

Just checked the steering and it's ok. The engine noise is steady. The engine did not make any noise when it was cold but started to do it slowly over time until the engine was warm. I think it's really the water pump

I tested the water pump with the water pump venting procedure and I can barely hear it. I must place my ear in front of the kidney grill to hear it run. So I don't think the water pump is the problem.

The wining seem's to come from the engine, directly beneath the oil filter housing.

VANOS solenoid? Check and see if you have any codes, even shadow codes.

I had one go bad and only ever had shadow codes

Just checked with INPA and I don't have any error code. Vanos seem to work as well. The solenoid were replaced this summer.

EDIT: I've checked in the code history and there is nothing either.
