Another day another misfire...
I'm just posting this here to get some other helpful reassurance from the more knowledgeable people on this forum.
today I started my car as usual and my SES light came on. After starting it and moving a little I had a hell of a group of misfires so I turned it off and turned it on but this time started driving and I was lucky enough to avoid the misfires. As I got to work I whipped out my laptop and plugged in my usb and booted up the JB4 interface to read codes and I'm going to attatch what it read. It's saying things about my Oxygen sensors so I'm wondering if having my O2 sensors bad would be the culprit of these problems? Car has 110,000 Miles on it and I just replaced the Coils, Plugs, and Oil less than 300 miles ago. Thanks guys!

Are the injectors the originals? Have any been replaced in the past? I bet its injectors.
INJECTORS!! Especially if you have new plugs and coils and this is happening on cold starts. |

I have only owned the car from 95,000 miles till now so I have no clue if they have been done in the past (I forget what I saw on the service records when I looked them up from the dealer) but wouldn't injectors throw their own code if they were having issues?

Dont believe so. My car is throwing misfire codes for cylinders 4 and 5, as well as a o2 code. I have bad misfires when the car is first started in the morning. I was told it was injectors and I believe it. You can call any BMW dealer and give them the last 7 digits of the vin. They will let you know whats been done to the car (at least at a dealer).

Yes, injectors can cause missfires.
I had code P0306, which was resolved by replacing injector #6. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=injector Ymmv of course. |

I've had all 6 of my injectors replaced last year. The code I got was P0172 (running rich) in the first bank. I replaced the first bank injectors 1-3. Two months later, same thing happened in bank 2 and replaced injectors 4-6. The second time around, my misfire was really bad, car smelled like gas, engine malfunction, etc...
Fuel injectors solved the problems. |

So you had a smell of fuel from outside your car when they were going bad? I'm smelling fuel too on a regular basis.

Does anyone know if BMW still replaces injectors under the recall? My car was built in 3/2008 which falls under the recalled cars but I haven't heard of anyone getting theirs replaced on here in a long time. I get occasional long and strange starts which can be a sign of a bad injector.

Might want to check that at the dealer. Just give them your vin and have them look up what has been done to your car. Are you sure that it's not a HPFP problem? Long starts are more hpfp than injectors.

The first time they went bad (first bank), it didn't have a smell of fuel. When the second bank of fuel injectors went bad, it was a strong smell of fuel and horrible misfires compared to the first time it happened.

The original owner of my 335i got his injectors replaced at 24k miles, but he was under warranty anyway. When I took ownership of the car, at around 43k miles, my injectors went bad and I had to pay out of pocket because they wouldn't replace it for me under "recall" and I work for BMW!

I'm now putting money on the injectors because of the fact that it only happens when the car is cold.
