Is my new 335is a true sports car?

I know how to disable the traction control - one push for limited TC and a second long push for "inactive"
This will let me do a burnout in a straight line or get up the driveway on a snowy morning but get the car sideways and the ECU still cuts the throttle!

I'm guessing the car has stability control that wont allow spinning the tires while sideways?

I want to autocross this car and I need full control to steer with the throttle. I'd also like to do a little drifting (all on a closed course - of course)

I need to disable the stability control, anybody know the secret? I'm guessing that this is a new feature (problem) with the 335is

Another problem is that there is a throttle override on the brake with this new car so I can't power-brake to launch.
One touch of the brake and the throttle is shut down.

I understand safety and all but I thought I was buying an enthusiast's car. Is the new is neutered?

It's like owning a handgun that won't fire when you point it at someone; it's safer but it won't do you much good when you really need it.

You can't brake torque a DCT.

Just a dumb question; if you knew you wanted to auto-x and drift why would you buy anything other than a manual?

Cruise control does NOT work when DSC is disabled (ie in either mode #2 or #3 above).

I find it interesting that nobody else seems to care. I hate not being in control, the shitty response from the throttle-by-wire is bad enough...

It's really a let-down for me with what I thought was a performance car.

I was originally going to buy a Camaro SS 6MT... it would have saved me $25grand and probably would have been faster, more fun, and more reliable.

oh well, I'll throw a few performance mods on there and have a great time with it for a few years then move on to the next thing I can't live without...

That doesn't make sense. I'll double check my owners manual tonight.
You try it with the the sport button activated too? I can't say I've tried it yet in my car.
Worst case, I'm sure it could be coded out.

Let me ask a question. When you were trying to drift, while you were on the accelerator, did you press the brake? BMW's do have a safety feature that overrides the gas when you press the brake pedal. It prevents the unintended acceleration issues that Toyota was having.

I don't think I had the sport button activated - I don't recall that detail.
I did have it in manual.

what does "coded out" mean and how would I do that?

'Coded out' as in changing the software via a reflash.

I STILL think there has to be a way to completely turn of all traction control. There has to be way or a reason why it didn't work for you. Actually, check over on the M3 board... They have the same DCT trans.
