Footie, you need to find this out for me man. I'm dying here. I need this bloody car. And I wish I thought highly of the American market, I'm actually from Canada (We are british too, you know... We just sound weird!).

UGH if I have to get an M3, seriously. THIS CAR IS SO FUCKING NICE!

And btw YOUYOU, my parents do not lease their cars. I know lots of people do, but leasing isn't the same as owning the car...

My parents also get vehicle loans for nearly 0 percent (subprime of 0.9) and that's largely because they operate a high-equity business.

*shrug*
Dude, ur not the only one that's been waiting for this car to arrive in NA. It took 3 years before Audi made the TTRS (which is another car I was longing for) since the new redesign of the TT but the damn thing won't even make it to Canada!

I'm already freaking happy that the RS5 will be in the showrooms by fall of this year! It not even making it across the ocean scared the hell out of me

If you really need a high performance car now, why not just lease the new S4 for a little while and then make the payment for the RS5 when it hits Canada later on this year. I'm sure the Audi sales rep will be happy to have u as his customer lol

Nah, my parents hate leasing. They firmly believe in owning the vehicle if they're paying any money for it... And for them it makes sense, if you had the option of buying a car but only paying like 1000-2000 more spread out over 60ish months, well that makes financing a whole lot easier....

I don't like my Audi dealerships here, I just want the RS5. S4 is too slow, if I wanted something like that I would have sprugn for the S5 2 years ago... :/

Now it's either the M3 or RS5. And if the RS5 is >110k with ceramic breaks I'm going to have to pass, since my parents gave me a hard budget of 100k (and I can MAYBE Push that to 105-110 including tax) so I'm not gonna wait to be disappointed.

A used R8 has also come to mind, although I'm not too sure if I want to drive it in winter since it might be too low. If I can get some bilsteins for it and raise it then that would be an option, too.

Bit of advice, gett off your arse and go out and earn the money to buy the car yourself. Some rich spoon fed oich will not appreciate the car if someone else paid for it.

Your parents should be investing the money into your education and not your wheels.

Tough love, but very true.

When I was a kid of 15 my dad told me if I wanted a car he would cough up half the money but I had to come up with the rest, it was the best thing ever and learned me to respect money and my car.

BTW that car was a Ford Escort 1600sport and it cost £1000 at the time, probably the equivalent to £7000 today. A far cry from the $100k being discussed here.

To be fair it's his parents' money; he shouldn't have to deal w/ a lesser car because some people on the internet told him so. But obviously he hasn't learned the value of money yet.

Edmunds.com has an estimate up on their website of $68,250 for the RS5 and a target launch of 'Fall 2010'.
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2011/audi...75/prices.html

Also on Fourtitude, one of the members confirms with a reliable source that the RS5 will be coming as a 2012 model. So most likely coming in 2011 as a 2012 model? I dont know what to make of this info. Footie, maybe you can help clear up some of this.

I was only showng my experience of life and how I was brough up. Each parent has to chose their own path for their children but I personally don't think it's the right one to buy a $100K motor for them, it never teachs them the value of things (expensive things in this case) not the enjoyment that comes from earning those goods themselves.

Agreed. My first car is also my current car, the 128i bmw. My money, not my parents. They were willing to help me out but I said no. The monthly bills I gotta pay aren't fun to look at but it helps build you up on how to manage your finances and it definitely does make you appreciate the value of money.

If the starting price of the RS5 really is $68,250, it'll be $9,850 MORE than the base price of a M3 coupe. That's terrible.......... I can see perhaps a 3-5k jump but 10k? You gotta be kidding me if that's gonna be the actual starting price.

I'm not going to comment on the possible price that the car might come with because in the UK the price repositioned itself on more than one occasion and this all came down to final standard equipment spec. One thing I do know is that in the UK at least the RS5 is remarkably close to the M3 when the M3 is specced to the same standard as the RS5. Whether the same could or would be true for Canada or Noth America I can't honestly say but I doubt things will be dramatically different than here.

Remember that the RS5 includes a lot of hi-tech equipment.

I know what you're talking about. I took my 350Z for granted when my parents put down the DP (about a third of the price of the car).

The difference in base price may seem like a stretch, but you may not realize that the Audi will come with many options already standard. You would have to spend quite a bit to similarly equip the M3 up to the base RS 5.

True, I haven't taken that to account. For those that live in NA, we'll just have to wait and see just what the RS5 comes included as "standard" and then do a price match.

2012 in Canada? The 68 isn't so bad, if you compare it to the S4 pricing it seems aggressively priced.

I wonder how much the ceramic brakes will be.

P.S> I never said I deserved the car or i'm not fortunate to have these circumstances.
