I plan on changing this tomorrow and reading through a few google searches im wondering if I have the right stuff. I looked for redline but nobody local sells it.

I have a 2009 328i Xdrive so I plan on changing both front and rear differentials

Will Mobile 1 75w-90 LS work?

None of the BMW 3er diffs are LSD save for M3 so any quality oil of the correct viscosity spec should work fine. (assuming you're out of warranty of course.)

Personally I might hold out for Redline - years and years ago I asked an acquaintance/casual friend what gear oil he was using in his drag car (an old Studebaker Starlight Coupe with homebrew twin turbo setup, probably pushing close to 700 HP) and he said "Redline Heavy Shockproof." I haven't used anything else since - I figured if it could keep his car happy that it'd handle whatever I threw at it.

When I had the oil changed in my 335i diff I used the factory stuff, same with the trans. I may go Redline next time as I was expecting an improvement in shift quality; honestly, an old T-10 with Redline in it shifts almost as well.

I used redline 75W90 in both front and rear diffs. You can get royal purple at Advance Auto for $19 a bottle locally and can use a $20 off $50 coupon (es123)

I ended up using Mobil 1. 75w90

I used Motul Motyl Gear, it is the blend of synthetic and non synthetic i believe. My shop used 75w90 and charged me 40, i saw them do it and it looked pretty simple, just need to get the car jacked up on a even level and pump oil out and then pump it back in

How did it go?? I did my front and rear diff's friday. I used M1 75-90 in both. Also drain/fill the transfer case with BMW FF oil. Was your front diff really clean?

I used Castrol SAF-XO, which BMW Europe sells as OEM part number 33117695240.

I believe all vendors sell it (or at least bring it from Europe when ordered), its just that is a bit costly.

It was recommended by forum members. No issues.
