LCI AHL headlights crosseyed

How do I go about centering the projectors? I bought LCI AHL headlights for my LCI conversion but I am unsure if I want to spend the $300+ for the AFS modules to enable the AHL. The lights I received are sitting in the crosseyed position (i.e. projectors not pointing straight). I tried using the horizontal adjustment screw but it barely moved it towards center. Anyone know how to center these manually? Thanks!

I have the same issue. I'm hoping that when I hook them up they will straighten out; just not sure if they will do so without the adaptive modules. I was hoping not to have to hook up the AHL function.. But we will see. Let me know if you figure something out and I will do the same!

are you upgrading from Pre-LCI Xenon? did you code the frm to accept the LCI headlights? I had this problem going from Pre-LCI Xenon AHL to LCI Xenon AHL until I got coding done and now they work just fine.

I just bit the bullet and bought two AHL modules off ebay, I will get them coded with the rest of my car including a FRM2 module I bought so that I could have welcome lights, etc. I am going form a Pre-LCI Xenon AHL to LCI Xenon AHL. I will update when conversion is done.

Check the adjustment bars inside the headlight--if they are disconnected or not attached, that could explain this issue. I'm not talking about the adjustment screws, but rather, the actual bars that connect the projector to the AHL unit.

The horizontal angle of the projectors is controlled by a motor that is essentially part of the projectors themselves. You can see it just below the D1S holder when you pop off the rear cover. Unfortunately it's got a 7-pin connector so you can't just connect a battery to adjust it.

There is no exposed gearing/access to the front shroud that I know of (the projector mounting bracket is in the way) so only thing I would recommend (besides removing the projector or the front lens) is to connect an adaptive module and connect it to a factory xenon car (pre-LCI or LCI). Should straighten out.

Thanks for the information guys, however I just gave in and bought the AHL modules the other day. This information is still useful for those that don't have AHL to begin with though. Thanks!

You'd need them anyway so water doesn't get into the housing or short the exposed contacts.

Did you retrofit your non xenon car to these? Also how'd you go about retrofitting the ahl?

You need to either install them with working SMCII modules or manually apply power to the stepper motors to center them. I don't know what the supply voltage for the stepper motors is but I'd start at 5v and if they don't move, try a 9v battery, then 12v.

I opened one of these up the other day, from the front you can actually just adjust the projector part simply pushing it into place, id assume you can technically just take out the bulb and stick a screwdriver in through the rear and push it into place assuming the projector didnt pop off the place it mounts to on the inside, you can feel the gears turning too.. its probably not ideal to do it manually but it worked for me.. inside this is where the projector is attached to

Hey Robbie - Doing a pre-lci xenon to lci xenon conversion. I'm wondering what coding is required? I understood it would be plug and play aside from the 3 side leds. Thanks!

Do you have a writer up or some sort of DIY that you followed to open the headlights? I'm having a similar problem as the OP.

You might want to check if the horizontal adjustment arm is disconnected. You can see disconnected/connected pictures in thread here:
