So far so good.

I can't say exactly what we did with respect to idle stability. But I can say that the newer DME updates now use the rear o2 sensor voltages for fuel determination and NOT for just testing for catalyst inefficiency. Which is why all the current wire-in (and our original software-based) o2 sims have been giving some cars problems with respect to o2 codes and misfire.

If private beta testing keeps going as well as it has been going, I'll post up the new maps and firmware within the next few days.

Great....I no longer get that Fuel Mixture code either...This is probably directly related to your tweaks.

My MPG's seem to have improved a bit as well.

P.S. you just saved me $60,000 as I was so close in doing a Euro Delivery M3, as I was getting sick of my misfires

For Stage2 6mt maps, IC is set to 80% and UT to 85%...? How does this compare to the 10-9, is it the same as it being at 100% IC and 80% UT on the previous firmware?

The private beta maps are the same as the 10-9 maps in the respect to UT and IC scaling. The private beta maps were just emailed out as they ran in my car (custom tuned). When I post them up officially, they will be set to the usual 80% UT and 100% IC.

This sounds really good. Can't wait to put my procede back in to see how it goes. Had to take it out a few days ago as I had to go the dealer for warranty covered VANOS solenoid replacement (2 of them replaced). Now waiting on replacement of another small part (DMTL pump) Monday and procede will be back in...

Based on all the feedback so far, I'll probably be posting a public version of these new beta maps up tonight. They will replace the 10-9 beta maps that are currently posted on our tuning forum.

Are there going to be any changes from the ones emailed a couple nights back?

UPDATE:

350 miles of Mixed City (San Francisco) and Highway driving in the last 3 days (100 mile commute/day) 3 cold starts and everything is holding strong and the car drives like it should, the car is driving so well in fact, I can't get myself to drive my commuter MKV Gti

Just with user adjustables. I'll set them to the usual default of 100% ignition correction and 80% user torque. I'll also turn the o2 sim off (100%).

Redundant question, but I want to be sure:

For those with the current beta map but stock downpipes/exhaust, can I presume we should set the o2 sim to 100% since the stock catalytics are still in place and don't need any signal modification?

Correct. Although I'd be curious to see if tuning the o2 sim ON causes any issues. The reason is that we've redesigned the o2 sim logic to ignore 95% of the signal and only filter out the offending voltage spikes that trigger the cat inefficiency codes. Spikes that a car with stock cats shouldn't have in the first place. At least that is the theory and it's worth testing Of course, this is ONLY for off road use vehicles.

I am seeing some spikes to 17.4 psi, is that normal?? It will build up to about 16psi and then all of a sudden hit 17.4psi and quickly go back down...

How are measuring Boost? with a gauge? BT? Procede logging?

Stage 2 map
You will notice that those spikes coincide with brief bits of throttle closure activity. This is normal and you will even see this in valet mode/stock tune. The only time, the Boost reading in the software is accurate is when CAN dbw throttle is at 100%. Ignore it whenever the throttle is less than that.

You will not see these spikes on a boost gauge which reads pressure from the other side of the throttle body (which is what your engine sees).

So to turn it back on its 80% as before?

Wasn't there a way to just say 1 or 0 for this? Why is a percentage still needed?

Are you talking about User Torque or O2 Modifier settings?

With User Torque, the default will be 80% regardless of stage map.

With o2 modifier, the default will be 100% which is simulator innactive. The reason it is adjustable is because different set-ups with different DME software versions will require different settings.
