I thought that a 318i ES I had as a courtesy car once didn't have them.
Or parking sensors.
Or any power.
Or... oh well, I could go on...

A few beers under the bridge since then tho', so may be wrong...

I think you'll find it part of the "extended light pack"

Mine has it, and was listed by the SH car dealer I bought it from as part of an extended light pack.

However... they sold the A4 I part-exed as having an "extended light pack" as well and it had pretty much no options whatsoever, certainly nothing in the lights department. So their word means nothing! They seem to add this line to all exec cars they sell...

One thing I find odd is that my headlights "seek" when I start the car - point down then level again - despite not having Xenons. I've only ever seen that in a car with Xenons...

It does that to simply exercise the levelling motors (that you adjust manually on halogens with the thumbwheel) to stop them siezing up through lack of use. How often does anyone manually adjust?

Xenons do it to self-calibrate end-to-end travel for the dynamic levelling system.

Interesting. Previously I have always done this from time to time manually - I have a strict "use it or lose it" view on rarely used buttons, that comes from owning two Alfas and a Caterham. On the Caterham in particular if you didn't use a switch for a month or so, that was that.

I suspect I'm in an anally-retentative minority, though...

Not sure if this is part of the extended light package, my on my E90, there were 2 big interior lights in the roof, (one in front, and one in middle), and used to make the car stand out really well in the dark, (especially with lemon dakot leather), when on.

These might be standard in all E90's tho?
