Thumbs up 328i Eurocharged Tune w/ 3 Stage Manifold...with Dyno's!

Hey All,

I did the (3) stage intake manifold mod for the 328i last Saturday and was able to get the Eurocharged tune for the 328i. In the time since getting the mod and tune, I get much more power above 4K RPM, better throttle response, and a much more torquey drive. I'll probably get the tune further customized as I believe their is more power left to get.

To give an idea of what mods I've done:
- (3) stage intake manifold
- Charcoal Delete
- K&N drop in filter.

Pre-Tune Dyno Numbers:

HP: 196.3
TQ:179.8

Post-Tune & Manifold Swap Numbers:

HP: 213.6
TQ: 199.0

That gives me a delta of... 17.3hp and 19.2tq. I'm not sure of the drivetrain losses from a dynojet dyno, so feel free to inform me on that.

In all, I'm happy with the mod and tune :-D

that doesn't seem like a good gain for a tune and a manifold swap, that seems almost like what you'd get from just a tune....anybody else think this?

nice top end, but it seems like your first stage torque is missing... you should hit about 200 at around 2750 rpm.

i think you're right... definitely more power to be had... that seems like very small numbers for all that money spent and effort put in

I agree.. There's really not much you can really do to the N52. Even the smallest gains can be extremely costy.

Edit: Thanks for the numbers regardless. Hopefully you're happy with the end product!

Those numbers seem low with a tune and a manifold. I know we have see people pull that number from a tuned 328i without the manifold. I think Gavin had number around that without a manifold. Crazy.

Contrats on the manifold and tune. Not try to kill it for you. Thank you for posting the numbers and I can't wait to get my tune and see what I can pull. I'm just scared of what it will say.

Yea, I was expecting a bit more power as well. I'm gonna take the numbers to eurocharged and see what they can do with the tune.

At the most, I was expecting 40hp additional, but getting around 20hp isn't too bad either.

Kinda low IMO. Forum member M3TA5IN hit 220 whp on his best run with the EC tune + 3 stage and mustang dynos have a reputation to read way lower than dynojets. However, congrats on the new tune! enjoy it to the fullest.

With anywhere from 13-18% drivetrain losses, the 213/199 comes out at:
-259hp/242tq on the high end (18% losses)
-244hp/228tq on the low end (13% losses)

I'm working with Jerry @ Eurocharged to further revise the tune. He also believes there is a lot more to get out of the engine.

Keep in mind, the 328i has a different ECU than the 330i, so it'll take some work to get the (3) stage to work to its fullest w/ the 328i.

I'll keep you all posted.

Interested to see what you come out with, I also want to speak to Jerry some more once I have time.

Also something I never mentioned in my post. With the 220hp on the best of 3. I didn't have time to switch wheels and was running my winter set up rials opposed to my OEM CSLs. Dont know how much rotational mass would play in?

Not me, my car is completely stock performance wise except the tune.

I believe savvy said he has the 3 stage manifold like us, and charcoal delete with the tune.

Don't want to thread jack though, my thread is at the bottom same page.

Oh you're fine! lol...

How much drivetrain losses do you get with a mustang dyno? I know with the 328i, we have a much more restrictive exhaust and intake than you guys, so I'm sure that makes a difference as well.

I'm not sure on exact drivetrain losses. I'm no dyno expert by any means lol

I will talk to the shop next time I'm there and see what they say. We had a long conversation about dyno jets vs mustangs. They prefer mustangs because dyno jets read high in there opinion. I personally take there recommendation. It's a racing development shop that races in the American Le mans and several other series. They run a class act facility.

most modded 330i 6mt on this board had around 230hp on dynojet, mustang does give you lower number, but should only be a around 10hp difference or so.

your dyno read about 195 stock, which is inline with others. with 20whp increase put u around 255 crank which is very good number already considering you dont have any mod.

also I believe BMW engine will read higher number over time/mile, so 330i might read slightly higher compares to newer 328i with same setup.

328i has same intake as 330i, i think 330i exhaust is less restrictive though. I did like to see if cat-back give you any gain, if you ever have a chance to do so.

You need an exhaust and EURO intake. It is the whole package that counts.
'Get it in and get it out'
Your results are what I would expect with just the 3 stage manifold and tune on a dynojet dyno.

I have Euro intake, K+N, stock single stage intake, AA tune, BMW PE and on a Mustang AWD dyno made 216awhp.

Sorry to resurrect this again but I had to figure this out.

Cobra, was 188awhp your STOCK numbers on the Mustang dyno? Mine was barely putting down 165awhp on a Superflow 880 stock.

The numbers in my sig are from the exact same dyno a year later with K&N Drop In, Charcoal Delete Stock Box, Smooth intake tube and a Muffler Delete with Single to Dual 3.5" Tips.

If I'm missing ponies (even sans the AA tune) that I should have, I need to figure out where I'm in need. I find it hard to believe the EURO box can make that much of a difference.

I got an updated tune since my original post, so ill be redynoing sometime this week. I'm hopeful to put down 220+hp on the dynojet giving me 260hp after losses calculated, so we will see.
