None yet. No one's car has gone 100k+ to to show long-term problems (or lack of problems), though.

Same goes for all the piggybacks. Or even the Dinan flash for that matter.

^what he said, but remember, you're not performing at stock levels, you're almost doubling the psi in the turbos, and you're constantly pushing the car more than you would normally....more stress = more wear....just common logic.

No one knows, but whenever turning and pushing more PSI on the engine. It cuts the life of the engine big time......

You should lease the car

I would say it hurts the turbos more than the car. The engine can probably hold up to this plenty. It isn't that much boost overall. It is the fact that the small turbos can't spin much faster and beyond 15psi they are out of their eff% range. Just plan on replacing the turbos at a faster interval if you get a tune. Or swap them for something better down the road is my guess.

swapping will add more power which means = more problems in the long run.

Thats obviously what you have to do, but remember you cant switch maps when your driving. So if you in "valet" mode and the e92 M3 pulls up next to you on the hwy what are you going to do?

Thats why its something you have to take into consideration

How? I thought with the 1.22v maps must be selected when car is off with the gas pedal?

Explain? I want to know....

Unless you have an adapter connected the ECU to select maps, I don't see how it works?

here is the switch and where it goes. was told by n54tuning that maps can be changed on the fly. haven't installed it yet, or tried it, so i this is the extent of my knowledge.

adhalla, truly no one knows. Or if a very select few do (tore down several engines, measured wear) they aren't saying--this information would be costly to gain and might give a competitive advantage to the ones who know.

Now the turbos themselves, on the other hand...I'd be willing to bet that Mitsubishi knows full well how long their turbos would last under 12-13 PSI peak boost....

Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard

Your going go out of your sunroof to ghost ride on your open hood, flip the switch under the hood, then jump back in your car through the sunroof all while still moving? you should be ed again

You can make your own switch and route it in the cabin, but it will not allow access to all of the maps...

+1. Very strong block with a surprisingly beefy bottom end, which should be able to take HUGE power for a lifetime--as long as you don't have lots of detonation under high boost.
This will destroy any engine right quick.

Good luck with this intial thought.... Once you have more power.... it's addictive. Yes you can drive at normal speeds etc.... but you will only be reserved for so long from people pulling next to you and wanting to play. TRUST ME. I'm sure everyone on here can attest to this.

switch will be routed into the cabin. thought this went without saying, but apparently not.

switch has 3 setting, one is valet/off, one is what the pedal is set to, and the other is one of the other maps.

+1. The only question will be map 4 or map6...not valet mode.

+1 I think Terry even offered a DIY write up on how to extend the hard wire map switch. I really thought people knew more about that feature
