You bought the wrong car to be exclusive regardless of whether you can rent an M3 or not.

I think at those rates, BMW is not diluting anything.

Wrong car to be exclusive in. Where I am, it doesn't matter if you have a M3, M5 or M6, to the general public, a BMW is a BMW - no one stops and stares unless you're an enthusiast. I could imagine this to be very similar in California where people have nice cars because of the nice weather.

Bad idea should only be kept to current BMW owners, would definitely take the exclusivity of BMW 👎

I doubt hundreds of people would jump to pay €300 a day to drive M3s. There would be a few enthusiasts only.

You can rent MB C300 GLK and others from Enterprise at dealers in USA today. Surprised you can't find loaners at BMW Dealers for rent. MB are about $89 a day in DC.

Trust me, you are 100% Correct. You have to step it WAY up to be exclusive in the nice parts of Southern California, just like you said, because the good weather - It brings out the best in everything.

Hm, why do 2 M3's on the german site have 450HP and the others ordinary 420HP (http://portal.bmw-on-demand.de/selec...ction=display# mineralweiss and spacegrau M3). Probably just a typo?

IF you really want to rent one... go to SIXT or EUROPCAR, they have better long term rates for AG and M models.

That is correct, I've done so in the past and will again this year when I am in France and Germany, I only rent for short periods of time. SIXT has a great selection of luxury cars in major European cities.

One point I like to make;

In Germany it would be nice if BMW Dealerships (that rent cars and are in the program) would match the SIXT price for people that actually own BMW's or at least give some sort of discount to us.

Also... many do not know this... but even if you only need a rental car for say four days... it is best to tell the rental agency you want it for two weeks or longer. That way you get the lowest daily rate. Many rental agencies make you pay a higher fee for the first two days or rental... then its dirt cheap every day after that! And normally they do not have any penalties for early return. That was the way I always rented cars. I always ask for the cost of the rental a few different time frames. For a week or two or three.. then I ask about any hidden charges/fees for early return or high kms(driving).

Also note with any of the big German rental car companies(SIXT, EUROPCAR, ect) - you can return the car to ANY rental station in Germany. Its only when you rent from outside of Germany or drop the car off outside of Germany(when rented in Germany) that it can get expensive.

To get the kind of exclusivity you're looking for, you really should have bought all...every last one!

I either like the car during a test drive or I don't. The more I see the same car on the road the less likely I'll buy it.

This thought process is exactly why the M brand is being diluted. Exclusivity is the wrong reason to by an M car, or it least it used to be.

Agreed. I think that's the wrong reason to buy any car but everyone has their own reasons for buying their vehicle.
