N54 jb4 + dci 93 octane and e85

I just needed some help. I have read a lot of people say running 70/30 mixture is fine and then some said car fuel system is suitable for it.

Also on maps lot of people say map 5 is better than map 1 and then some use map 2 all the time with just dci and 93 octane.

Please advise the best and most aggressive set up for me. My car is under warranty till February and like many else HPFP was changed too about a year ago and I never had any issues of limp mode for over 12k miles now.

I tried map 5 and map 1 for 200 miles on highway yesterday and was getting 11 to 14psi with iat on oil gauge at 160. overall car temp was like 210 where a normal stick stays at.

I really want to try map 2 with 93 oct and dci only for now but wanna see how safe is it as I really don't want any engine issues. I can do e85 mixture but want to make sure it's safe.

Thanks

If I remember correctly map 2 requires downpipes and a front mount, I wouldn't try it without those supporting mods

Email Terry.. honestly I wouldn't mess around with E85 without upgraded fuel pumps and injectors even though lots are having good results with small mix..

Hey man, I'm running 5 gallons of e85 and 10 gallons e93, that gives me a 33% e85.
1- If you don't have downpipes and only 93oct - stay on map 1, it should give you 13psi at best (it's not 13psi from 2k rpm to 7k rpm)
2- If you don't have downpipes but you have a mix of e85/93, drive a few miles after mixing it before switching to map 5 so it will start auto tuning when you have e85 flowing.
3- If you have downpipes on you car, keep it on map 2 when you don't have e85, but only if you have DPs and e85, use map 5.

I don't have downpipes and the car feels strong with e85, not the same car with just 93oct. I'm getting up to 16-17psi on map 5.
Make sure you have the latest version on the JB4 too, otherwise you won't get high boost.

Map 1 no requirements
Map 2 requirements are 93 octane and Downpipes but never specified if catless or catted

I ran Map 2 on 100 Octane and it is a significant improvement over map 1, much much more aggressive even if it’s only 1-2psi more…

I cannot find e85 in Tampa. Is there anything auto-zone sells comparable to it.

Hey guys, I'm a bit confused. If map 2 is 14.5psi and requires DP, how is it possible that map 5 will not go over this limit? Imagine you run mix with e85, but then if map 5 sets boot to something higher than 13psi (map 1) you should already have DP, no?

in tampa, the closest E85 station would be bolingers (Recently tested at E70 winter mix) in st. pete or up north in safety harbor.

google E85 gas stations near tampa

Good question dreadnaxt and I want an answer too. Coz if map 2 does 14.5 psi and it's not safe until we have dp then how map 5 can offer boost level between 12-17 and be safe. Either map 2 dp requirement is being extra cautious or there is something we are missing here.

Lots of misinformation in this thread. You can run Map 5 with no mods, same with Map 1. Map 2 needs 93 and maybe some other things. Run Map 5 with any amount of E85 or 91/93 and no mods and you will be fine. I advise to start with 40% mix and log it. With 50-50 mix and nothing else you should be around 390-400whp.

I would run map 5 starting out with about 25-30% E85. Do some datalogs and check out your fuel trims after you do a couple of WOT pulls. If the trims are low, add more E85. I wouldn't jump into too much E85 and then find out the fuel can't keep up causing issues. So 25% E85, a couple of WOT pulls for autotune, datalog, see what others think, then adjust E85 accordingly.

Map 5 will adjust boost according to your mods. Just because it can offer boost levels of up to 17 psi, does not mean it will, with your given mods. As above states, try a few gallons of e85 with your 93, and do a couple 3rd gear pulls on map 5. You'll be surprised..

Not too many options for us on the west coast. Closest E85 station is in St. Pete

Im only seeing 14.5-15psi with 66/34 (95oct/E85). With 102oct i was at 16-16.5psi. Is that normal or should i see higher psi levels with E85? I only have JB4 G5 ISO and BMS DCI.
