I purchased a CIC Retrofit Kit from Tadas aka Julek on e90post.

Shipping arrived very quickly through TNT Express--shipped Thursday from Lithuania, arrived Monday.

The harness was broken on CIC Emulator; Tadas had Bimmer Retrofit send me another. The replacement arrived very quickly in less than one week.

CIC worked flawlessly but there were some issues--my music library would not load after importing music and I had no HD Radio. Tadas immediately scheduled an appointment with Bimmer Retrofit.

The folks at Bimmer Retrofit really know what they are doing. They had my car coded and fixed in less than 15 minutes! The only thing I might mention is that I never really knew who I was communicating with at Bimmer Retrofit...there is one username and it appears many team members switch on and off as the day progresses.

Hi yes I have navigation voice. I have one more persisting issue that I think is a new side effect--I now have a constant "Power Window Anti-Trap Function" error which displays every 20 seconds.

I emailed Tadas and he told me to reinitialize all the windows but I have already done that..

Another update..

Tadas is such a nice guy so I'm not sure why isn't replying to me BimmerRetrofit is ignoring me too.

I tested out a burned DVD today because I never got around to using the feature yet. To my shock and dismay, CIC said unrecognizable format. Maybe I burned it too quickly so I burned @ 1x and made sure it was NTSC. Still did not work.

Ok, so I got an original DVD (so hard to find :P)--still unrecgonizable format.

So this is another issue that came up.

I advise everybody to read it. You will get a lot of useful background knowledge. Sometimes I wish I spoke Russian, then I feel I can do a lot more on my own instead of begging for help.

The best analogy I can think of is

BimmerTech = Vishnu
BimmerRetrofit = BMS

of course not a perfect analogy but it's pretty close.



Anyway, because even though Tadas doesn't reply consistently he has always been very kind to me, so I'll wait a little longer before this review takes a negative slant..

I think you need a OPS or other equipment to clear the error.
My CIC have installed,but a error show in CID about air bag,I use OPS to clear it.

I guess the problem in the DVD "areacode".
The "areacode" total of six.
Canada's "areacode=1". so your DVD's"areacode=1".
but your CIC from other countries,so your CIC's"areacode≠1".
you insert the "areacode=1" DVD to "areacode≠1" CIC,so show "unrecgonizable"

Hi, I read and cleared error with INPA but I don't know what OPS is. I will take a look.

BimmerRetrofit told me it may be an issue because my battery died or is under powered.

My Escort 8500 has a volt meter and it's within the normal ranges 13.9 - 14.5v when driving. 12.9 when ignition on.

Hrmm...I live in US. US and Canada both Region 1

Sorry I misunderstood you before! You are 100% right.

I could not get my NCSExpert to read CIC. I searched and did these steps:

1. Downloaded ISTA v42
2. Updated Daten Files
3. #0909 - FA_Write to CAS and FRM
4. $609 - FA_Write to CAS and FRM
5. $6VA - FA_Write to CAS and FRM
6. now NCSExpert can read my CIC. Got .trc file
7. AREA_CODE_DVD
   alle_anderen --> area_code_1
8. renamed file and coded
9. DVD Works!!!

I also fixed my Vehicle Info Display. I basically used my updated Daten files to code the KOMBI through NCSExpert with Expert profile. Please scroll down to take a look at youtube
