Wanted: BMW 335i Convertible
Hi all.
I'm in the market now for a 335i E93, all specs & colours considered with a budget of £18000. I have my eye on one at a local BMW dealer, 2008 (08) at this price but I am sure that there are better, well looked after examples on here . |

Looking at the spec which is pretty basic, it answers the question as to why it appears so cheap. http://bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmwauc/detail...zNTc=&btp=1x12

Thank you for replying 335i Nay, it's a little out of budget for me though sadly. Great car though & if matters change, I'll be in touch.
So funny that you found the car I went to look at . Yes, that's the one & managed to beat down to just over £18k with my Dad (mechanic) & his friend (body repairer). Now that you know the car, you don't recommened that I buy? I'm genuinely interested in your opinions. The mileage is a little more than I had hoped to be honest but the spec seemed reasonable (well I could live with it at least). I appreciate that it is a cheap 08 plate, 07 seems more realistic for my £18 - £19k target & in line with the AutoTrader offerings. Any suggestions on a prefered spec? Please, rip it apart, I trust any of you over a salesman . I'm in no hurry, just getting tiresome of finding one now. For example, some that I would also be interested in... http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmwauc/de...A4MEpaOTU0NDc= http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...13hj?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...335i?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...13hj?logcode=p Last edited by Cozy; 08-30-2011 at 04:44 AM.. |

That Black 335i convertible is a bargain at just £18k, even with 52000 miles on the clock. It has a lovely saddle brown interior, and a bonus having manual gearbox. Cant see you finding better for such little money!!!

Be honest guys, is the spec of this 2008 model I saw THAT bad? The miles are a little over for sure, 53,000 over 3 years is around 17,500pa so that's a lot (average should put it at around 36,000) however, I will be doing no more than 5,000pa in it during my ownership so that may even out.
As for the price, I can't see why other than the spec. The bodywork & interior is fine although we still picked at it, the engine runs very well, the wastegates don't chatter, I believe it's had the injector recall and the test drive was very pleasureable revealling no issues. It also comes with warranty so I am not too worried . Czech, feel free to have a word with the Mrs but don't upset her on my account . |

No the spec isnt that bad. The 335i M Sport has lots of features that are options on other models, plus it has active cruise control and usb interface.
A set of 19" alloys would finish it off nicely. What a bargain at £18k with 12 months AUC warranty.. Go buy it! Only thing to bear in mind is the higher road tax rates on the e93!

The dealer car lacks a few of the extras that some see as essential. It doesn't have 19" wheels which in Glasses Guide knocks the price back by £1000. It also doesn't have nav which maybe could knock it back by £2000. Manual also in a 335 tends to take a hit as most prefer the auto but again its what you prefer. Also if you do not care for these "essential" extras and you acknowledge you may need to take a lesser price when you sell then so long as you can negotiate a deal you are happy with then thats what matters. I would hit the dealer with mention of all the things it is missing and make then a reasonable but insulting offer.

yah its just terrible, no parking sensors, no heated seats, no nav, no blueooth. no way in hell I would consider it. spend a little more now, get a little more back on resale and enjoy a car with all the toys for the time that you own it.
I will have a chat with the wife the only problem is that if I sell her car she will start looking for a M3, or a V8 Vantage Considering the spec I would want around 21k, still interested? She will be in sorry next week with the car. but this one posted looks like a much better deal http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...335i?logcode=p why don't you consider that one? |

looking at the photos it does not look like it has parking sensors on the front but i could be wrong but to me things like Nav, bluetooth and heated seats are essential parts of a luxury car.
professional hifi is an extra on all E9x's, logic7 is amazing I also don't get why people are bothered about paying a extra 200 quid in tax when they buy a 20k car. Even if you keep the car for 3 years that only a extra 600 quid who really cares? |

Nav is marmite, it does affect the price and the speed of sale when you come to sell it but isn't a deal breaker for lots of people if, like yourself, the price is right. Bluetooth would be nice etc but if you have a set budget, I'd definately be negotiating hard with that spec Having had Active Cruise Control on my current car, never again! It's ok when it works, it's a ball ache when it doesn't. Your main dealers default response to any issues with it is "needs to be sent away for recalibration" as they can't do it onsite. Recalibration is an "adjustment" so isn't covered under AUC or extended warranty unless the issue turns out to be hardware related, then it will be refunded. £299+vat for first recalibration, then £99 re-recalibration charge once they have hopefully fixed the issue. Mine has a fault looks like it was caused by hitting a bird. Took it in and was quoted £3k worst case scenario to have it fixed The service manager asked "how often do you use cruise control? Enough to justify repairing it?" I'll never buy another BMW with A-CC

Thank you all for the responses and based on what you have said I have contacted the salesman and pointed out the lack of spec. I am not sure the'll move downwards any more but if not then I can always walk away, it depends how much they want to sell the car as I believe it's been on site for a while and getting close to being taken for auction. It's up to them, I'll take it for the right price even with the lack of heated seats, nav, bluetooth & big wheels with cash right there and then but ball is in their court.
I didn't notice if it had power folding mirrors, was that an optional extra on the 335i or standard? Considering my LEON has these, heated too, I'd have hoped such an expensive machine would too. |

Thanks .
Well I've decided to pass on this car, the dealer would hardly budge and all I got out of the negotiations was a full tank of fuel so I'm going to give them the call and walk away. You guys are right, the spec of the car just isn't that great, the mileage is high and both will bother me...could I honestly do £20k on a car that I am not 100% happy with? I know I'd always be a little disappointed that I paid the price they wanted, especially seeing another M-Sport with the 225 style wheels which I love. Oh well, AutoTrader trawling again... |

It's a nice car, but unusually specced (or not specced at all) for a 335i convertible. It is the cheapest convertible on the AUC site, and there is a reason for that. I would have expected Sat Nav on a top of the range beemer, OK you can do without it, but it makes the car less attractive to sell on. No heated seats on a vert! Unbelievable really, and a must for the majority of vert buyers, that omission would put me off more than the lack of Nav in honesty. I wouldn't bother with Vines of Gatwick, pop down to Vines at Redhill and have a word with Jason, I'm sure he'll sort you out
