Exclamation 320d Juddering Problem - Possible Fix!

Hi Guys,

As some of you might know, I took my car into the garage today for the clutch juddering problem. Well to my surprise BMW know about the fault! They are releasing an updated software pack to all servicing dealers in April which they claim will fix the problem.

I'm off to the garage now and will get the software versions and post them up since the garage tells me the is currently a waiting list to get this update… I’m not surprised!

Hope this helps!

Pete

Software fix? What software controls the clutch?
April? If they know about it and can fix it April sounds a long way off?

Great if true.

Don't think he's talking about the clutch itself. It's the problem whereby you get a juddering effect when changing gears, particularly in second gear.

Well the garage showed me the tech sheet which they printed out. It described the juddering problem between 1500-2200 RPM and temperature did not have any difference to the problem.

They are saying that the software update will also include a few other fixes hence why it's not coming out until April.

They said that dealers (including them) have been replacing clutches left, right and centre to try and fix this problem and the problem never goes away hence the new software release from BMW.

To be honest, for me it doesn't matter how long I've been driving, it can do it first thing in the morning, or last thing at night after a long drive. other then that, same problem

Very annoying!!

Exclamation

MMMMmmmmm!

I get a judder every now and again. Thought it was me and maybe I should rev the engine a bit more!

I also feel a bit of a prat when I reverse up the driveway and the car is packed, and then it judders.

Better get in-touch with the dealer.
