Just got a 2007 335I Sedan

I had a 2008 Infiniti G37S until I totaled it a few Saturdays ago. Now I’m a proud owner of a 2007 335I silver sedan. I have a few questions regarding this car. I want to find out how often you guys do your oil changes and filter changes also do you rotate your tires. The dealer told me that I don’t need to rotate the tires and to take it in every 15,000 miles for an oil change. Coming from a G37 that I had to change the oil every 3750 miles sounds weird to me. Also I want the angel eyes to be white/blue how can I change them?

Welcome to the forum! This is a great resource, so be sure to look around. One word of caution though, many people will jump on you for simple questions if you could have found the answer with a simple search. The search function is pretty decent, so give it workout!

Likely your car has a staggered tire setup, meaning the rears are wider than the fronts (assuming you have the Sport suspension ZSP.) That means you can't really rotate the tires, since trading sides does nothing for you. If you don't have Sport Suspension (18" wheels vs. 17"), then you can rotate the tires since the stock 17" setup isn't staggered.

BMW uses a "CBS" algorithm for determining when maintanence should be done. That is "Condition Based Service", and the intended interval is 15,000 miles. However, I think BMW is absolutely NUTS to suggest a 15,000 mile interval, especially on a twin turbo that runs pretty hot oil, even though it is full synthetic.

BMW will only pay for the oil changes when the onboard computer says so, or if it has been longer than 1 year. I average about 10,000 miles per year, so I get the annual "low mileage" oil change. However, I do oil changes every 5,000 miles at Eastside Bavarian in Issaquah. It runs about $75 or so.

I did an oil change (out of pocket) at 5,000 miles, BMW did the one at 10,000 and then I did another out of pocket at 15,000 miles. By the time I reach 20,000 miles, I should be just past the 1 year mark since the last official BMW service, so they'll take care of that one.

Thanks for the welcoming guys. I don’t have the sport set up. All my tires are the same size, now knowing this I will be rotating them. Also thanks for letting me know about the oil changes and how they work. I’ll use the search for the rest of my questions.

Welcome to the boards!

+1 on the oil changes. Every 5k seems to be widely accepted.

If you want a good inexpensive mod for the angels, go with the GP Thunder bulbs. They're easy to replace and can be had for under $20. I have the 7500K bulbs and they give off a nice white light with a very slight blue tinge (see signature pic below). Go with the 8500K bulbs if you like a bluer color. **********s sells them (http://www.**********s.com/product.a...cement_Bulb_DC) as well as a few other vendors here.

Just one. The box comes with two bulbs.

You can also add the cornering light option. It replaces those bulbs as well.

Yeah, just switched em for the 7500K GP's. Not functional for fog I guess but it looks good.

Eastside Bavarian is using the BMW branded spec oil (Castrol.) I've had oil analysis done at every change, and it seems to be holding up quite well. I'll probably just stick with the BMW stuff personally.

I don't know much about Amsoil, although it usually reminds me of an infomercial. Still, probably good stuff....

Not too long, takes about 10-15 minutes per bulb if you take your time. Your hands will get dirty though .

+1 It's not bad at all. I did it when I was pulling my wheels off and cleaning them, and it's only 3 or 4 10mm bolts in the wheel well, pull it back, and the socket is right there. I'm sure you can do it with the wheels on with the steering wheel cranked to one side. But yes, you will most likely get dirty!

This is for the E92 BTW! Can't see it being a whole lot different for the E90 though.

Now I feel like an ass! Unfortunately there aren't other places on the car that use that bulb size. If you just ordered them, you might be able to cancel?

Me --> <-- Myself

Actually, I just looked at the **********s site, and the interesting thing is those bulbs (H8) are available under the E90/91 products list. Is this just an error then?

Welcome aboard bud!!

Speaking of lights - After seeing Eric's kick-ass white lights on his halo's, I ordered the LUX5.0 LED lights for the sedan. Now I just have to find a fog light that matches the LUX
