Excuse my ignorance but I don't even understand this initial comparison. I always thought our cars were judged by overall drive characteristics, speed being one of many factors. Mustangs are great cars but I have never heard them referred to by anyone as a "sports coupe". Is the Mustangs main focus not straight line speed with big v-8....? If we wanted to rip 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs and used that as our ONLY buying consideration then would we not all be on muscle car forums? I would argue that while I am sure that many of you have the mods and the skills to beat 5.0 Mustangs....I do not....but I would not trade my driving experience on a daily basis for a Mustang.

Here is a video with me against my friend's e60 m5 lol

And here is a unknown modified Evo VIII

I'm looking through my harddrive for mustangs and camaros that I have raced that night; I only lost 1 race and that was to a camaro running high 11s.

Either all mustang drivers are retarded, or all the members on this forum are fan boys. Hmmm
He's probably thinking of OLD 5.0s. Or maybe 4.6 cars with 5.0 badging. He's not going to outrun a stock 5.0 with just a JB+.

Your ignorance is excused. As much as I hate to say it, this isn't yesterday's Mustang. They still have terrible brake dive and still run a solid axle -- but that didn't stop it from keeping up with an E92 M3 on a track (track oriented towards larger turns and smooth surfaces, but nonetheless).

It's only going to get worse as Ford looks at a smaller and lighter chassis and IRS on the new car. The new M3/M4 better be impressive, because the 2015 Mustang (the Aston Martin look) already looks like it would win a head to head on paper with the E92.

no not foxbody mustangs, the current generation 5.0s... Most likekly the folks down here don't know how to launch their 'stangs and know where to shift upon their powerband. (Like I said earlier I'm in a army town and most GIs are not the sharpest tool in the shed)

+1
I'm not too fond of this euro styling mustang; I really like the retro Mustang look but I guess times are changing once again. IMO the next gen Mustang will surely be a bargain track beast.

Me and my buddy went to the track last night. He has a 11 I think. He has a intake, bama tune and long tubes and cat back and went 11.9 at 119

I'm sure BuraQ would fare well.
I ran a tuned w/some bolt ons 5.0 on drag radials last night
we both ran close to our best times
Out of the gate he beat me with .018 reaction to my .100
He stuck the launch 1.75 to my 1.95 (street tires for me)
by the 1/8 mile it was getting interesting 7.957@88.48 for the 5.0 and 7.966@90.32 for me. I ran him down at the end with 12.272@114.54 to his 12.320@113.37

his best run ever he said was 12.28 @ 114
we paired up again and I ran 12.17 while he missed a shift and then let off

My 335xi JB+ @ 100% on 93 octane (JB4 map 2 on 93 octane ran almost the exact same)

0-60: 4.2 seconds (Vbox)
1/4 mile: 12.5 @ 110 (track)
60': 1.75s

I've raced a 2012 5.0, from a launch it wasn't fair as my AWD jumped hard, the 335xi falls on it's face after 90mph though which is where the stock 5.0 will start to pull it.

A stock 5.0 vs a 335i JB+ @ 100% on 93+ octane is pretty evenly matched IMO.

Cobb/JB4/Vishnu tune with some good fuel or even a bit of E85 mix and things change big time. 335i's will trap 115-120 tune only on great fuel with decent temps.

All I see is people saying stock 5.0 vs modded 335i. Why not stock vs stock? Or modded vs modded? It's apples to oranges. In the end the 5.0 will be faster.

Ran a stock 2011 5.0 on the highway a few weekends ago with a fellow 135i owner.

2008 335i - 6spd - JB4 - 70/30 (E85/93)
2008 135i - AT - FBO (without meth) - JB4 - Pump 93
Stock 2011 5.0 with the new Coyote motor.

The outcome was as follows:
From a 40 roll, all 3 of us went. Myself and the 135i immediately put 2-3 cars on the 5.0 all the way until about 110 where we had a solid 4-5 cars on the 5.0 and then we all shut down. The 135i put 1 car on me before shutting down. This was done one more time to ensure consistency and the outcome was the same.

!Disclaimer! The above was conducted in Mexico.

120? Not without nitrous or racegas or serious weight reductions. Most E85 cars are running 116-118 max. Basic mod 5.0s will run 116-117 all day long

I've done 119mph but then again I am a 135i. At my local track (PBIR), I have yet to see a basic modded 5.0 trap over 115mph.

read 2 posts above yours, I ran with a 5.0 with more mods than me and he had drag radials. . anyway I ran 12.16 12.19 and 12.21 again in the heat of the day during a muscle car shoot out. Not a single modded 5.0 was even close to me. high 12s to 13s they blamed it on the heat. The only cars that out ran me were a ZR1 and one Gt500. I beat several other 500s and some vettes

+ 1. best I've seen a basic bolt on/tune modded 5.0 trap is 114 at PBIR

Then the drivers you've seen suck. With a bama tune, intake, headers, catback they'll run 11s all day long. Sucks that none of them could do better than 114, but I doubt they were tuned right, or something else was wrong. The Boss 302 traps 115 bone stock. They are much faster on E85 (there are several running 10s on E85 that I've seen).

I've go no doubt you did what you did, but don't let a local occurrence extrapolate into an assumption about how they all are. The N54's turbos do NOT flow enough air to keep up with a FBO 5.0 running the same gas. Just a fact of life.
