[Wes335XI]

Hello,

First I have a 2008 335XI with TCKR XI kit with single adjustable Konis, rear M3 subframe bushings, springs rates 400 front/700 rear. M3 front strut bar. My wheels are 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear, 265 series rear, 235 series front.

Also this kit was purchased from Harold at HP which is awesome. TC himself is also awesome. Any issues or warranty issues he has always offered to take care of.

Anyways, my front right side was hit by a pot hole. Got a new strut from TC, alignment twice, also another new part from BMW.

Below is a pic of the car before the accident, blue powder coated rims. The other pic is of the new wheels, gunmetal grey.

I've lowered the front right coilover by dropping the ring nut as low as it can go. The XI coilovers are shorter due to the AWD, but even on the lowest setting I still have a good two inch gap. On the driver side I have raised it just to see if anything would change. Before I made that adjustment there was about a 1.5 inch gap between the tire and fender. There's still a 1.5 gap after that adjustment.

My question is, am I just retarded and doing something wrong? Does the car need to be driven? I just don't understand why at the lowest setting would there still be a gap and before as you can see in the picture the gap was very minimal and set up perfectly at about 1-1.5 inches.

Any thoughts? If I can't figure it out I plan on calling TC to see what they think next week. Thanks!

This is what I don't understand also. Many users with similar setup have different gap when lowered to the max. I've read almost all threads on forum about that, but still no consensus on why some users have bigger gap

I mean it's not rocket science and it's fairly straightforward, but still no definitive answer

Thanks for the reply, I got one lol.

After driving last night and letting the spring settle and adjust, it appears that it has come down a little bit. I know this isn't the "correct" way to do this, but for a visual reference from the top rim to the bottom edge of the fender, there is 3.5 inches of space. On the other side I have 3.3 inches. So literally equal now.

I'm going to continue to let it settle and I'm sure I'll have to adjust the drivers side back down again to match or get closer to the passenger side then an alignment.

I just want to give a shout out to TC Kline again for an awesome set up. This system paired with a nice set of tires handles our Alaska roads perfectly. It really is a new animal compared to stock and now that my studded snow tires are off I can really enjoy it. I'll post up some pics later tonight. Doing a full detail on her later.

how do the tckl coils handle bumps and imperfections in the road? how is the body roll and the floaty feeling the stock setup had? i want to run mine a little lower than stock height but not really low as the roads where i live will not allow it

You'll be very happy with their performance. I'd honestly say Alaska has some of the worst roads and there's a ton of bumps and ruts. I've never bottomed out with this set up. It's very smooth and solid, it's not that harsh either. I have my Konis set two clicks from firm.

The stock set up clunked and seemed to have a lot of body roll. TCKR eliminated that and TC did a great job modifying these to work with the XI.

Below is an updated pic. After the spring continues to settle the gap from before is literally gone. I'm very happy haha

thanks... how low do u have the coils set at? can they go higher or lower from where u have them?

To me it seems fairly low but it's hard to tell from the pictures.

I would contact TC about it, and I second what you said. TC is probably the nicest man on Earth.

I spoke with TC Kline today. They said the XI's are an odd one because of the strut being shorter due to the front axles. He said the lowest I should go is 3/8 of an inch of thread left below the sleeve. So I will set both sides up that way tonight.

I also had BMW check my alignment when it was in for an oil change today. My front drivers side toe is off and the camber is off. After speaking with TC Kline I just need to order up the camber plates and that'll fix that problem.

Once again, these guys are very personable. He said if you have anymore questions or need anything else, just call us back! It's like dealing with a personal mechanic almost. They truly are awesome. I would go with them over KW just for the service. And they stand by their word and products.

Once I have everything dialed and camber plates installed and alignment, I'll update this thread. Thanks!
