19 inch ride a little harsher and weigh more.
I am putting 18 inch (8.5 and 9.5 wide) M3 wheels on this week.
Run flat stock tire sizes 225/40 and 255/35 I believe.
Wouldn't dream of lowering the car. It would ruin the ride. I will
Post pics when they are on.
Car is a sport package sedan that comes with 17's, so plus one will look good and ride nice.

My fear of 19's is the 30 series rubber and the bad roads around southern Ontario. The rim won't take a hit without damage. With 18's there's a hope anyway.

The car is begging for a drop. It looks goofy with the giant gap in the front. I can't wait until mine is slammed on the VMR 19's. I'm in Alaska and I would love to see who has roads worse than ours. The car handles better with them and rides smoother than with the stock rims on snow tires. The setup is staggered too, updating with spacers, studs, and limited Muteki Burning Blue lug nuts. Going to be pretty sick.

Go for some springs or coilovers. You won't regret it.

Okay so I just ordered some 19" Wheels today for my 328xi and am fearing this "gap" that I am noticing on many of these cars. I have heard endless talk about lowering with all different types of suspension setups. Long Story Short what is a good option when lowering my xi and how much would it probably run me. Also how bad is the ride after lowering, I hear some people say its not bad others say its terrible (which im sure this depends somewhat on the product). I will continue searching forums for these answers but there is ALOT of info on here, if anyone has any insight on this i would appreciate it greatly!! Thanks guys

Mr: R1KK cheap wheels have more weight , not 19" also RFT are super heavy , so this suggestion doesn't make any sense , you get what you pay for , good luck my friend .

Dropping an XI is a must. I lived with mine for a 100,000 miles stock and finally got around to doing it.......wish I did it a lot sooner

no, that's really how much gap the front of a XI coupe has.

thanks everyone for posting up samples. but from what i can tell, a lot of them don't look like XI. from all the pictures, i can draw 2 conclusions:

1. sedans SEEM to have less wheel gap in the front vs coupes
2. only OEM wheels look good on stock suspension.

i give up, i'm just gona keep my car stock

18 staggered on stock suspension. Def. reccomend the staggered setup.
I don't like the look, but I'm not sacrificing the ride & risk.

wow this thread is very informative. I have an e90 xi myself and am thinking of getting new wheels but did not want to mess with the stock suspension.

Looking at these pics, there are some sedans that look AWESOME with 18/19 inch wheels even on stock ride height. Some of the coupe's....not so much - they have such a more noticeable wheel gap!! The sedan seems to ride a little lower on stock height.

This confirmed me getting wheels though. I think with the right square set up and a decent looking 18 inch wheel/tire combo, the sedans can easily get away without a drop!

I said aftermarket, not OEM. OEM look stock because they're OEM; aftermarket do not. Wheels before coils ALWAYS. Wheels on stock suspension is doing it wrong.

Id say that goes for 90% of the wheels people put on their cars here. Mine are VB3s which are a csl knockoff.. so they are OEMish but still aftermarket. Same goes for the M355 by AG and many many other wheels. and i think you got the suspension part wrong.. right?
