Getting my windows tinted soon, just ordered an M3 spoiler from JBSpeed. Can't wait!

My Bimmer has been sitting in the same spot for over 36 hours. THis cold weather is plain stupid . . . I'm not even walking to my car. Maybe tomorrow. It's f'in cold for this time of year. 30*F range!? WTF!

Got the tints done today, looks totally awesome. 35% sides, 20% rear windscreen 3M Color Stable.

Too dark to take pics right now plus it's raining . . . grr.

08Bwags - I saw a silver 335i sedan at the tint shop, that you by any chance?

Go figure right?

You get them done in Rochester? If not where? Tint is high up on my priority list for this summer looking for a decent place...

Ain't a whole lot of BMWs around here compared to Philly, 335 is even more rare - just wondering.

When it actually stops raining (look at the forecast . . . arg) and we get some actual spring weather, we should have a western NY meet and get some garbage plates or something.

Tint shop said don't put the windows down for 5 days, I'm like, no problem with this weather haha. So I guess it's good that I won't even be tempted to put them down.

BTW I went to the Tint Shop in West Henrietta:
http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl...61988334027098

$324 w/ tax. Side windows + rear windscreen. Just missed the sale last week they had for $212, same stuff. Make sure you get 3M Color Stable, it has a lifetime warranty and is the best you can get quality-wise. Most tints I see on the road are total shit.

They also do 3M wrapping for the rest of your car . . . it's like $800 for the front and some of the hood, $1200 for the whole front. Little expensive for me but I like the idea. Mirrors are like $140 or something, that might be worth it.
Car detailing is a hobby of mine, I always keep my rides in top shape and am embarrased to drive them any other way.

Edit: Sedans are a little more for tint, like +$30 or something.

Sorry guys, didn't know you were going to the Tint Shop. I know the owner, Jay. They did my Audi too. Don't think I'm going to do the BMW. I like to have the top down and windows up on occasion. I think it would look odd with dark windows...

Anyway, I'm down for a meet when it gets nicer. Got some work to do on top of a fullllllll detail. Just let me know...

Tint shop is where I was a week ago. I stopped by to get a quick quote. I have a lot of friends that have taken their cars there and liked what they did. WOO! you do like detailing! haha I like a clean car but being in western NY I cant get to picky.

Tell Jay to tint my car for free. haha just kidding. Yeah a dark tint might look a little different when the tops down but windows up.

Well, keep us in the know...

Also, I'm starting to get into the detailing side of things. I priced it out at around $700 for everything I need in fair quantity for full leather treatment, interior, wash/dry, 2 stage polish, sealant, wax, clay, etc including orbital...

Not sure if I'm prepared for that type of fiscal commitment. What is the going rate for such things as I just spoke of and what products steps do you offer in your services?
G'Morning everyone . AMASIAN I will send you over a PM just to stay within forum boundaries.

For those who don't want to get into something like that, there is a Montego Blue E90 328 driver over here outside of Buffalo(I wonder if he is on the forum here) who does an absolutely amazing job in taking care of his vehicle. He wants to leave the polishing and sealing aspect to a professional but the last time I saw him we looked over his vehicle and there were only a few spots(isolated from birdbomb and possible delivery or random mark) that really required attention. He is booking a wash/decon and light polishing session for the spring to take care of the marks that bother him but otherwise to brighten up the paint so he can enjoy it and maintain it. Other than that his car is PERFECT, absolutely gorgeous and I told him straight up that he does an absolutely outstanding job.

Point of this is, if you want to leave the polishing and back-up-to par processes to a professional just make sure your washing and drying routine is in order after to prevent damage and you are guaranteed to keep that level of a finish. This particular person is a textbook example of how proper post-detail care keeps vehicles in looking perfect.

Also, to add to this thread: For the WNY guys, truly outstanding European mechanical and tuning shop called Blackforest Motorsport is located here in Buffalo near the airport. The owner's name is Jason and he is a very honest, straight shooting gentleman who wants literally the best for his customers and does work in a very timely manner. An exceptional alternative to waiting for dealerships. He and I recently worked on a mini-project and I wouldn't hesitate to take any vehicle of mine there(even the non-euro vehicles).

Anyone in Rochester got a spare I could borrow/rent for the weekend? Had a blowout and I'd rather not have to rent a car for the weekend. I'll buy you dinner, or pay you for using it if you want.

Pm me asap, I'm sitting waiting right now.

Thanks for the quick response, I don't run RFTs, have 710s. Got it towed to BMW of Rochester (sadly) and they'll be picking up the tab on a new wheel and tire. Gotta love when the warranty starts paying for itself early!

On a side note, avoide S Winton above 490 like the plague. Potholes galore, including an 8" deep (I measured it) foot diameter hole next to a manhole. My choice was hit the hole or hit a car...

Thanks for the tip and sorry to hear about the tire/wheel. Glad you got the warranty huh?! Wish I could give you a wheel but I need to get one myself before I'm in the same situation.

BMWCCA and PCCA are going along with a local Rochester Euro club. I'm pretty sure I'll be out of town for this and the SCCA event @ RIT.

Nic! You're welcome man. I think it was pretty apparent how impressed I was with your car.

I think the CDV delete should make things a little more crisp as well, and Jason is the only person I would recommend to have it done by. What were his thoughts?

I was lightly playing around with the idea of an E90 myself. I am really really unsure and can't make up my mind with vehicle purchases, especially used ones. And really knowing how compulsive we both are, the aesthetic and cosmetic parts of the vehicle(along with mechanical and structural etc..) would have to be absolutely pristine.

Mike
